Gotcha. I have a single leaf added to my stock pack that i got from my brothers Deaver pack and my leafs are past level. So with this info im thinking ill go with Dakars with the AAL and probably leave my lift shackles on as well. Whatcha think?

I'm not sure how the lift shackles will affect things...might end up giving you more lift than you're looking for (Dakars + AAL = ~3" lift, plus the lift shackles might put you over 3"). I've never used lift shackles so I dunno exactly how that'll turn out.

Just pulled the trigger on a full OME from Wheelers! Against better judgement and many here i went with 883s with a stock bumper and winch because I plan on doing it fairly soon and figure now I will be "forced" to do it even sooner haha :). Also ordering 265/75r16s and American racing ar172 in black today.

absolutely. I will try and get some good before and after shots. I expect they could be pretty bad especially to start, before they settle, and before extra weight.

quick question that I can't seem to find a answer to using the search. When installing OME Dakar leafs, would it be possible to jack up one side at a time to do the installation?

Noooo, not unless you want the install to be a living hell. Truck should be on perfectly flat ground and jacked up evenly on both sides...any flex at all on either side of the truck and you'll have a hell of a time lining the bolts back up for the leaf springs (eye bolt and shackle bolts). I had to use ratchet straps to get mine to line up because my driveway was slightly off camber, took me a few hours and a lot of sweat.

Jack the rear up by the pumpkin, put jack stands on either side of the truck by the frame and keep the floor jack underneath the pumpkin so you can raise/lower it as needed to help line the springs up. Have ratchet straps on hand just in case.

Good to know lol. My driveway has a slight incline so I may just work on it on the street which is flat and not busy at all. Im glad I asked, Thank you guys for the quick responses!

No worries, yeah the flatter and more even the ground the better. Remember to chock the front wheels regardless, once the rear of the truck gets lifted up it's going to want to roll forward.

I would've advise it. Yes it's possible but it will be a nightmare to get everything lined up again. Before you start check shackles and front spring pin. Every 1st gen I've seen has a seized front pin. I would get some new ones, you don't want your truck stuck on stands while you wait for them.

I just ordered the same setup from wheelers today also. You will be amazed, way better ride than stock even with 883's. CVS will not be happy. When you tear a boot , just get oem boot kits. All the cvs at auto zone, orielys, etc are junk. If you have the oem CVs keep them

Thankfully my pin bolts were not seized. I’m still going to replace them, though. Probably best practice after 15 years and 250k miles. I just forgot to order them...
