    Welcome to TW.

IMO, I would look into about a 2.5" - 3" lift, but with the 285's; you may need to do some trimming and a Cab Mount Chop (CMC). Having the proper wheel backspacing and offset will definitely help as not all 285' are created equally.

In the suspension and the wheel & tire sub-forums there is a lot of information about what lift will fit with and without rubbing. A lot will depend on what you are going to use your truck for as well.

    Suspension Sub-Forum: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/suspension.18/

    Wheel & Tire Sub-Forum: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/wheels-tires.15/

A good thread with a lot of information on that size tire: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/show-your-285-75-16-and-285-70-17.469963/

    Good luck in your search.

Lift will not guarantee the fitment of a 285 width.
If you're prepared to trim its not that hard to fit

but otherwise not so easy as just saying this lift and you're fine.
as menitoned above wheel back spacing which 285 exactly as well acn play a huge difference.

KO2 for instance run smaller than a Duratrac
Alignment is a huge factor to play in amount of trimming.

Understand you need 4.5 backspacing otherwise you hit the control arm and once you get into 4.5 you'll usually be too far pushed out and you'll be hitting the cab mount.

    some get lucky in alignment.

I don’t want to have to do any trimming if I can avoid it. I’ll be using it as my daily driver and weekend trips. Not doing any rock crawling just want to be able to hit some cool trails and see some cool places

    then look away from 285.
    Go with 265 70 17.

It took me plenty of places that are much more demanding than what you're looking to do. and you wont need to do any trimming.

If you are not looking to do any trimming, them I would look into the 265/70R17 tires or 255/80R17 ( "skinny" 33's). Both of those usually fit on stock set up. May need to remove mud-flaps though.

Google and search this site. You will have issues, it is how you plan and solve them. Take your time and research everything.

I have what you are specing. I have fully adjustable front and three stage adjustable rears. I also have high quality UCAs to give me more caster flexibility.

No single “number” in inches of lift is sufficient to answer your question. Wheel offset, tire brand and depth, aforementioned caster and coil over adjustablity. Leaf springs initial height and sag. Other stuff you bolt on...do you plan on fixing the Taco Lean?

I planned for 4 months and got what I wanted. You are likely not me so I only reiterate the need to plan it. Call Bij at toytec.

^^^The truck will do these things with stock tires, no issues. Only fit 285’s if you A:want the look (most people) or B: absolutely require the extra 1 1/2” of clearance.

285’s are guaranteed to do the following (listed in order of importance):

    1- trash your gas mileage
2- make your truck feel sluggish
3- void your frame warranty if you chop it up to fit the big boots
    4- ruin your ride quality
5- cause your needle bearing to vibrate (after required lift)
    6- look fuckin rad
    7- gain you 1 1/2” of clearance
    8- Impress your bros.

I can almost guarantee you will definitely rub with a -12mm offset and will need a CMC

    Maybe get them in a 265 70 17.

Not if you do ecgs bearing.

But yes it does get sluggish and ride is harsher from the 265 70 17 duratrac.
Figure it's from the bigger heavier tire and the added ply.

For what it's worth my Konig wheels are one of the lightest and wheel tire combo still weigh 72lbs each

You know I’m just jealous. The 285s look sweet. I wish I wasn’t so goddam practical sometimes.

Ruin ride quality, not even. Ride quality has improved Offroad feels stock on the road. There are trails where 30" will no do well and 33's will. Ground clearance is improved(from frame to ground, yes this is needed sometimes.
