My 18 Limited was doing the reboot until I had the latest firmware installed. Been all good since. Originally wouldn't read text messages, also fixed with latest software.

Thanks Mike. Let me know how it goes. Mine rebooted again when using the mobile assist this morning. Maybe I'll try removing and re-pairing the phone as well.

Finally got my radio replaced by the dealer, which seems to have tentatively fixed the problem! I don’t know how one radio can do it and another (allegedly same model) radio would not, unless Toyota realized it was a hardware error and is fixing the radios on the sly

It’s seemed like it has been fixed before, so I’ll keep y’all posted if it reverts back into garbage

I may have found a fix until they get a patch out. Take a look at your contact names. If there is anything other than a letter or number in it (i.e. special characters or emoji), delete those characters. Reset your radio, and reattach and re-sync your phone and contacts. I did this three days ago, and not a single reboot. (it was rebooting guaranteed once a trip)

I have gone through the similar problem on my 2017 tacoma. Today the head unit was replaced and the first call I made as I drove away from the dealership after the replacement rebooted the phone again. I have experienced the problem twice more since the repair today. The issue seems to be an incompatibility issue in their software. they need to get this fixed.

I have had same issue. Comes and goes, was fixed once with a software update. Took truck into shop this AM for the same thing again, always during the start of a bluetooth phone call or somehow related to answering a call with bluetooth. About 60% of all calls it happens.

Old thread that I've tracked for a few years so figured I'd add my .02 to the saga.

I've got a Tacoma 2015 and the same issue. For me, I've isolated it to when I have my iPhone (8 Plus on 12.3.2) and my iWatch on while in the car. If so, it reboots regularly when going from listening to music to making a call (80% will fail with the head rebooting). If I turn off my watch (airplane mode) then it's back to stable (no reboots over weeks). I've tried everything else in this thread with no change but turn off my iWatch and its back to working like a charm. Still sucks but at least I can make calls and listen to music when in the truck.

Agree that this is clearly an entune problem, maybe being tickled by something on the iPhone/iWatch but it's the entune device that's locking up and rebooting.

This is still impacting vehicles. The JBL head unit in my 2019 Tacoma OR rebooted itself 10 times during a 15 minute drive and I grabbed a video of it for the local dealership. Dropped it off at my Toyota store and they said they plan to flash the firmware and update everything as the repair. Will update this thread with the results.

    iPhone 7, iOS 13.1.2

    Guys,
My radio rebooted about 60 times in 10 miles after I loaded the latest version of ITunes. It looks like it's a problem with the latest version of ITunes on Apple phone (I first loaded version IOS 13.1.2). There is a newer version from Apple (IOS 13.1.3) but it still does the same thing. Shut the Blue Tooth off on your IPhone and the radio will stop re-booting. I think there needs to be a newer version of software patch from Toyota to fix this problem. I am trying to find out right now. I will keep you guys posted on what I find out.
