But I will say the Tacoma bed is the weak link in terms of sealing, and in some cases not consistent. It will blow dust and water in some places where it's not an issue for others. The Toyota engineers are probably laughing right now.

There's a few subtle differences, but you can swap campers from one to the other if you can seal up that gap in the front on the 2nds, but that's why we have the skirt to help with any water coming head on.

I have one of the shells with a full back door, which means that I need to retain the exact height from the base of where the tailgate sits to the bed rails (21” I believe). If I took the 1” bed caps off then I’d have a 1” gap up front and on the sides

yes, I have done the mods
Yeah, I just ran up against that, too. Does anybody know who makes 2nd-gen longbed rail caps? Relentless used to, but they seem to have stopped, too. Any other vendors out there?

It's not that complicated right? If you did a group buy, you could probably go w/ BAMF and do a run. Jerry would just need the design and you can mock that up in cardboard and then draw it in Sketchup.

It weighs under 350lb. I have placed on a truck with two people but easier with three. It could be lighter by around 30 pounds if you wanted to use honeycomb for the bed boards rather than wood, but that adds some dollars to the equation.

there a need to worry about galvanic corrosion from the kbvoodo bed rail caps? Seeing as how they are steel and some of these campers are aluminum? Not an expert here but remember seeing this brought up. my OEM bed caps may not have survived the RTT era of my truck...

The bed rail caps are painted, so no worries about corrosion. The paint is a barrier between the two dis-similar metals. You also typically have a big fat rubber bulb seal between the camper and the bed so they dont really touch each other.

Between the powder coating and gaskets, I don't think it will be an issue.

That's the whole idea.... FWC is popular for a reason, but not everyone loves the baggage they come with. Keeping it as roomy and light as possible were the two huge design factors.

generally you need an electrolyte to worry about it, in this case it's really a non issue because bulb seal.

Currently not a lot of info on the camper, all I know is AT said similar closed dimensions to the AT habitat with the main difference is it is a wedge instead of a flip style. So you should be able to use the AT habitat dimensions. We also know the price is in the $7500-$8000 price range.
