Where I am , it’s a 50/50 mix of male/female drivers of 4runners. All age groups too. So, I think it just varies region to region.

The most hardcore Overland vehicles I have on the roads within my 100 mile region have all been 4runners.

My favorite vehicle ever was my 3rd Gen 4Runner. The 3.4 wasn't a race winner but it just ran forever. I love the 4Runners, but picked up a Tacoma for several reasons including a bed (it's handy to just throw stuff) and a higher tow rating. However, 4Runners have the rear window that goes down which is the greatest feature ever and they also have 4 window auto up/down. I've always HATED that other vehicles don't, including my Tacoma. Why on earth would I not want all 4 windows with auto up/down??

Also, the 4Runner has 4 wheel disc brakes while the Tacoma still has rear drums. It's just stupid and Toyota being cheap. The engines have ALWAYS needed more power, from the 3.4 to the 4.0 to the 3.5. The only one that didn't was the 5.7, but that thing had horrific gas mileage, shockingly bad in my experience.

Now after all that, I love my Tacoma and accept all the things. Just drive what you love.

I wish I had power seats due to the adjust-ability. I like to sit up in a certain position and with the lever I am in between the sweet spot. I would also like to have a height adjustment feature. I will admit that the lever is quicker, but the power has more adjust-ability.

It is pretty much just an electric motor and a screw drive, would be extremely reliable. I don't need power seats either but would appreciate the infinite adjustability they offer.

I'm not a fan of power seats, but love the height adjustment. Wish I had that in the Tacoma.

Height adjustment isn't possible in the Tacoma due to the cab floor to ceiling space.

I honestly don’t care about powered seats since I drive it 99.9% of the time.

That said, the one hung I liked on my wofe’s old Santa Fe was that there were two seat settings. Push a button and it was right where I set it. Pretty cool.

I have that on my Subaru and really love that feature. It takes it one step further and each setting is programmed to a key, so when my wife drives my car and uses her key it automatically adjusts for her. It's the little things.

All I know is when I stomp on the skinny pedal the 4.7 roars and takes off better than a 4.0. It's just so sweet, and fuel mileage is not bad. Toyota could fit the sweet 4.6l V8 into a Tacoma, that would be a kickass truck, would outclass the rest of the bums no problem.

I'll keep this 4.7 as long as I can. Only has 105k miles on it.

It would be a real hog if it had the 3.5L.

Probably the reason they are still running the 4L.

The number just look better on paper. The 4.0 isn’t actually better at doing anything except accelerating insignificantly better in erroneous drag racing tests....

People will cite torque but if you look at the real data. It’s moot.
