I’ve been trying to figure out for a few weeks now what was going on with my truck. I took it in and they told me it’s the normal ABS and that nothing was wrong.

Basically, it makes a serious grinding noise and the pedal moves up and down when I’m coming to a stop and hit a rough patch in the road. Or even when I’m on dirt with trac off or Auto LSD. It sounds and feels awful. I’ve done different scenarios and it’s the same every time, every mode, every condition.

Anyone with this same issue? What do I do? It was starting to concern me when my brakes locked up pretty bad in the freeway and that’s when I knew I needed to figure it out.

It will normally activate on rough patches like that, make sure your tires are not over inflated as that will increase the likelihood of it happening.

Its ABS kicking in. Mine does it also but only if I hit a bump super hard such as when I take it offroading or even gunning it through a railroad track with a big hump.

Sounds like normal ABS operation to me. Also, you cannot turn ABS off. Even when TRAC and VSC are off ABS is still on. The only time ABS turns off is when the locker is engaged.

Is it possible yo are braking a bit harder then the Taco likes...?? I brake quite soft and this never happens, but it has happened on hard braking where the front tires are going over pot holes....

Your truck's brakes should NEVER lock up. EVER. Go to a deserted road, go about 45 mph and slam on the brakes. Report back findings.

The only time they should and will lock up is when the tire is off the ground..... If you are running a very rough road where the tires are losing contact with the road and you brake hard, they will lock while in the air....

OH... and likely on a patch of marbles/stones....
