Why do exhaust system reviews only focus on exterior sound?

So, I'm sitting watching youtube videos on exhaust systems, mufflers and what not. What I'm noticing is most are videos on what the exhaust sounds like from outside the car/truck. I'm wondering why not inside? After all, I'm the guy spending the money and driving around, first and foremost shouldn't it sound good to me, as the driver? I couldn't care less what everybody else thinks it sounds like. Am I off base here?

For my install vlog, I did a start up and rev to compare sound levels on the MBRP catback but after I did a test drive recording in cabin volumes.

I even used my Zoom H4N Pro sound recorder to pick up a more accurate representation of sound. It's used for live musical performances.

I hate that. Lexus does something like it but I think what they do is pipe intake sound, not exhaust, through the cabin. According to your article though, Ford pipes "v8 sound" through the stereo in a truck that has the v6 Eco! That's just silly. My neighbor down the street has an F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and I was surprised to hear that it sounds pretty damn close to my anemic little Tacoma v6, yet I know it's SO much more with its impressive power than what it sounds like. Maybe that's why they do it?

It's harder to record interior sound because you have to account for tire, road, and wind noise (if you're worried about droning).

Plus if people did videos to see if mufflers made an intolerable drone, Flowmaster would never sell another muffler

The way I think about it is that's how I'm going to be hearing it anyway. I want to hear how the exhaust sounds in concert with all that extra noise.

LOL. That was I was looking for to begin with, to see if any of them might drone cruising down the highway or just down the street.

It's best to turn "OFF" the "engine noise enhancement" on the F-150's. I think they do it, because the vehicle is extremely quite for it's size in stock configuration. Really serves no purpose.

Back to the question on the thread, are there any good video clips comparing exhaust systems/tones from inside and out? I've seen some good ones done for the Ford F-150's for Borla (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QFYsgerDxA), etc.

Any further experience or recommendations regarding:

1). MBRP Exhaust - found a thread on the forums here in which no one likes them?

2). TRD Pro Exhaust - seems to be the safe route for slight increase in tone. Is this manufactured by Borla?

    3). Other

Here is a sound clip of my Flowmaster cat back dual outlet on my 2017 3.5 6sp. I also added the URD Y pipe /cat delete that gets rid of the two downstream cats. I ran it up to 80 pretty hard then backed down to a 75mph cruise with window down and up for comparison.

IMO the only engine that deserves "sound performance" is a v8 due to its dual-tone harmony at certain RPMs. And the V12. To my ear, 4s, v6s and v10s don't have that.

5 cylinders sound interesting. So does the VR6 motor. Personally I really like the sound of a boxer 4 with unequal length headers. It has a pleasing rumbly tone from the turbulent exhaust pulses.

Yeah way back in the 90s, my stepson had a 90-something Passat with that vr6 and it did have a nice tone, but boy was that car plagued with troubles. I was so glad when he got the hell rid of it and wound up with a nice Infinity Q45 with a neater v8. And zero troubles.
