    Congrats!

BB didn't badge mine, but there was a very subtle license plate surround on the back.

If you are there on Saturday to pick it up, come say Hi and show it off. I live in the apartments literally across the street.

I've actually been hoping to fly out Friday, ... but it could be Saturday. An extra day, so I don't need to rush getting back home would be nice.

Of course, I still need verification that the truck has arrived, as listed, before I make the flight at all....

I had all kinds of issues with the Salt Lake Toyota Dealers lying to me. I broke mine in with a 700 mile trip. Just dont keep the same RPM. I also hit the speed limiter that trip. If you need a ride from the airport Friday I could drive you.

That sure is a sweet looking ride you have! The topper and grill really set it off nicely. You've lifted it a bit? Larger tires? Removed the decals?

The dealership said they would pick me up from the airport. But they also said they would immediately send me a receipt for the deposit, and I haven't seen anything of that yet. Bank wires are pretty much instant, from my limited understanding. So who knows, if they will follow thru with the pick-up...?

It's what, 30- 40 miles from SLC airport to Brent Brown, in Orem?

I've been thinking about that same RPM bit. Figured I would just get behind a semi, and set active cruise control. That should take care of it, at least until I get over the mountain and to the Denver area.

Use carjojo.com to search, makes your life easier as it shows you nationwide inventory, this site also has a way of knowing what car is where before dealers even do, not sure how, maybe access to allocation, but thier algorithm provides VINs and how many days it’s been sitting on a dealers lot for, which can help you leverage a sale. That’s how I found mine without calling a bunch of dealers, I knew which dealers to call which saved time.

Yea its 4.5 lift in the back 3” front and a few other things. with 255-85-16 they are a little over an inch taller tire. The OR stickers and V6 emblem i removed.

Bank transfers can take up to a day to show up after noon.

Yea Orem and back is about 45 ish miles. The airport is about 10 minutes on the freeway from me. I just did the OVTunes ECU flash and need some freeway miles anyway for it to learn. Message me for my number anyway In case something happens and you need a local.

    Well, I didn't fly out.

They never proved to me that they had it on their lot. Did forward me and my banker a photo of the MSO, but Mark Miller hadn't signed it over to Brent Brown. I honestly felt strung along on this deal. As if they really thought I might fly out to Utah without knowing they both have the truck on the lot, and the legally required paperwork to sell it.

Though I tried to remain hopeful and positive, the dealings with them was full of traps and pitfalls. Some blatantly obvious, putting me even more on guard. Wanting me to sign the contract of sale before I saw the vehicle, sending a photo of the check to them, wanting me to give them a credit card number over the phone.... ya, right.

They failed to meet the documented timeframe to provide evidence they had the truck and paperwork required to sell it. Too bad for both of us.

    I don't have the truck.
    They don't have the money.

Looks like I'm ending up with a New 2017 AC TRD OR, w/ premium and tech, and tow package (standard on the '18), in Quicksand. Has been on the lot for a bit over a year. Only one test drive since it's been there, ...so it's only got 14 miles. Exactly what I was looking for.

The only option I 'might' miss, that I was looking forward to, is the adaptive cruise control. I'm not aware of any other options (that I wanted) offered in the '18, and not the '17. Other TSS features...eh, not so much. For the price I'm getting her at, I can do without that ACC.

Strangely enough, as much negative stuff as I've read about Southeast Region, this has been the absolute least trouble free experience. Very smooth, so far. Shot me a good price to begin with, and even came down off of that some when my financer balked at the 2017 a bit.

It's not really a done deal until I pick her up tomorrow, but here's to hoping all goes well with that, and they don't pull any last minute shenanigans.

About a month and a half I've been looking and negotiating with various dealers, various state DMVs, and Tax rules. This may just finally be over.

Ha. I mentioned what I wanted twice on page 2. Post #29 had the VIN I was discussing, and a quick check at Toyota Owners would give all the details. Post 32... I spelled it out specifically, word for word.

This thread wasn't about a specific truck, but about getting screwed around by the dealer/s. Hence...the title of the thread.

Well..., it's a done deal. Flew out Thursday morning, and drove her back.

A BIG shout out to Hunter Nance, at Serra Toyota in Decatur, Alabama (and the whole team there actually). They made it easy. They shot me straight, with no BS. The out the door price we agreed on before I left Tulsa... that is what it was when I left the lot. No changes or gimmicks to raise the price. At $34,380 (off the lot), I think it was a good deal, for both parties.

Hunter handled everything like a true professional. Was waiting for me when the plane landed, got me in and out pretty quick, and on my way back to Oklahoma.

After all the BS I had to deal with from those other dealers (especially the two in Utah), it was nice to be treated like a person and not be screwed around with, and interact with a salesman who was true to his word.

Of course, they recommended some excellent BBQ to try before I left town. Big Bob Gibson's... get the white sauce chicken, and a slice of pie!!20180525_132922.jpg
