Thoughts on air compressor mounting

Found this little gem on google today after a 50 mile trip over washboard without a compressor: https://expeditionessentials.com/pr...edside-compressor-mount?variant=1708368592905

Any thoughts on price and mounting location? Im adding it to my xpod for power so routing should be pretty easy. Thanks!

 

I like mine mounted under the hood, with the slee mount. The hook up for the airline in the bed location.

 

I am using the Expedition Essentials mount and it works well.
Can be a pain for the initial install and its a bit hard to plug the wiring harnesses in as there isn't a lot of room once its mounted up.
I got it installed with a Pelfreybilt HC rear bumper and it was a very tight fit.

To be honest I haven't decided if I am going to keep it or not. It a nice use of otherwise wasted space.
If I decide not to use it I will probably just do an aluminum plate cut to the size of the cuby opening and then mount the plate using the existing mounting holes and then mount the compressor to the plate.

 

I was thinking of putting it under the hood but I know dust can be a problem, have you found that to be the case?

 

Out of the weather is my preference

It’s not quiet in the cab. Everyone always brings this up.

Withba two gallon tank, you can run Lockers all weekend without the compressor running.

If you’re airing up, you’re not in the truck anyway.

If it does run, is it REALLY that bad to listen to listen to a compressor run for a minute?

Those Molle panels are great. Really glad I bought one.

The compressor was in there first thought. I trimmed the panel to fit around it and the tank.

 

That’s awesome I want to get a Molle setup eventually. Just purchased an ARB single compressor today for a good deal gotta get a slee Mount just for airing up tires.

Sure the compressor gets dusty under the hood, but it has air filters on it that are replaceable. I have cleaned the filters on mine twice since owning it, as I remove it each winter and do maintenance on it.

I dont see dust as a problem with where I have it mounted.

 

What maintenance do you do to it. I'm going to relocate the filters to the inside of the glove box or behind the center console.

 

Total disassembly, as much as possible. Take everything apart. Then cleaning, I use a tooth brush and other small thingies and clean every nook and cranny. Make it look new again. Apply Dielectric grease to all the connectors for storage.

I have added my own 2nd layer of filters over top of the stock filters. I bought some baby socks and just put them over top of the filters. Nice easy way to keep it clean, just pull off the baby sock wash it, dry it, put back on.

Same thing I do with my air fitting in the bed box, I bought baby mittens and one is always on the ARB fitting. When you go to use it, just pull the baby mitten off and its perfectly clean. The baby mittens have an elastic wrist part that keeps it fitted correctly, works perfect.

 

I think im going to pull the trigger on the bed box install location. Im a little less worried about the dust now, I was seriously considering an in cab install to curb dust issues!
