    That sucks !!!!

Haven't been to Death Valley in maybe 25 years since the CA4WDC Panamint Valley Days with Dave Freiburger and Rick Pewe from 4wheel and off road magazine

Do you know if all the abandoned mining equipment is still up in Panamint City ,like the Bulldozer , Grader and Dump truck . How about that maintenance shed , still there ???

Barker ranch, some idiot burned it but the stone foundation is still there.
Panamint is still intact, we backpack up there once or twice a year.

That's kinda where I am. There's only a few roads I maintain only because it takes a lot of time to maintain a lot of roads. Just about all the major roads here require some sort of rebuilding or capping. I don't do what's considered a route (the one's designated by a paddle/carsonite numbered marker). Those I let go to their own demise. The trail riders, jeepers, utv folks like them better that way and I really don't want to mess with that.

I want to go Death Valley again but to watch the Fighter jets from NAS China Lake and Nellis AFB as they run thru Star Wars Canyon /Jedi loop aka Rainbow Canyon

It is humbling. This area is part of the Desert Training Area from WWII as well as the legendary Yuma Territory and the prison...I would have really liked to have seen the river when it was a mile wide. But getting to run equipment I get to see layers of what is there and areas of where it ran through. Pretty cool.

That is the actual death valley, the national park is several valleys and gas at stovepipe is the closest I get. The tourist can have that part of the park

Thanks Chuck, I sincerely appreciate your thoughts and prayers - I really do.

At this point, I'm going to take this discussion offline and get a private thread going. You're more than welcome to join in, but please don't feel obligated if it's something that's uncomfortable.

I'm gonna catch up on this public thread a bit, invites to the private thread (I think that's how this works) will be coming shortly.

I'm not a fisherman at all, but I really appreciate that older school technology!

That looks like some pretty sweet kit, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

This picture KILLS me - how in the hell do you get into a situation like that?

My Dad had the same Jeep, it's how I learned to drive a standard transmission. Which BTW, is there anyone who loves/hates "3 on the tree" like I do? :frusty: :D

Hell, the Shafer trail in Canyonlands NP has it's fair share of pucker factor, and it's EASY!

So, like I told Chuck, I sincerely appreciate the thoughts and prayers and well wishes!

Since the cat's out of the bag, I'm going to take this discussion offline and get a private thread going. Invites are forthcoming, and anyone's welcome to join in, but please don't feel obligated if it's something that's uncomfortable.

If I miss anyone, please feel free to shoot me a PM.

EDIT: It looks like I can only invite 13 folks into a conversation at a time, so I know I missed some folks just getting the numbers right.
