    can anyone please tell me how the dome light is triggered when the door is open on a 2011 toyota tacoma extended cab?? i am trying to put in shadow light in the doors easy as possible,can i tap off a wire in the door? please help and thanks

    Can`t say for sure about the 2011 but most others .

    When the Door switch closes (Door Open) it allows that circuit to ground completing the circuit

    There should be a little rubber nipple under the door latch catch, this is a sprung normally closed switch that is held open via the door itself being closed, when you open the door the circuit is completed triggering the dome light. (and courtesy/puddle lights if equipped)

    You can pull that and tap into the ground there.

    The switch looks like the rubber bumper nipple to the left.

    This is on my access cab but it should be the same on all 2nd gens though perhaps located in a slightly different spot depending on door configuration.

    yes,i have an extended cab,i am trying to put ghost shadow lights in the front door panels,that switch is on the other cab doors

    That's the switch that triggers the doors so you're either SOL or going to have to run wires all the way around.
