I just custom designed an ARE MX cap to see what it costs and to get a quote from a local installer. On their website, there are two options for roof rails, each being about 500 bucks. Or, you can just get the tracks installed for much less money.

Has anyone gotten just the tracks on an ARE and found some inexpensive compatable rails? I don’t need or want accessories, just two crossbars to stick my canoe on.

Or is it just worth getting the Yakima bars ARE offers?

    Thanks!

Would be best to get the tracks installed and then get a aftermarket rack that has better load bearing capacity

They rails from ARE are quoted at 570. I really don’t need any load bearing qualities, I just think 570 is a lot for two metal rails. My canoe weighs 15 pounds. :)

If you dont plan on using it for anything besides your canoe, id say its probably easiest to get the whole setup through your cap dealer
