A few years back, I had one on my brand new F150 and I regretted it the decision after the first year... it marked up the paint big time.... terrible idea.

New to TW & a 3 week old, proud owner of a new quicksand sport.
So, we beat to death windshield, grills, & paint. Its definitely annoying and a pain to clean up.
I'm really concerned about clogging a radiator and condenser. I'm figuring that Toyota knew this would be a problem, so they made the removal of the grill as easy as possible.
Anyone know about a solution that wouldn't degrade the bugs without corroding or destroying the aluminum? I try and just back flush the radiator, but the little creeps wedge in real good.
    Thanks,

I took some window screen material and made it go between the grille and the radiator. I'd rather destroy $2 worth of screening instead of beating up the radiator fins. As far as cleaning goes, get them suckers good and wet, maybe use a scrub brush that isn't too stiff (think nylon, not wire brush), and run water while scrubbing them off. I would take a pic of the grille, but I am on 2 wheels today.

That's a great idea. I actually bought some bungie's and fiberglass window screen when I saw a semi with its grill covered this week.
(Great minds think alike). I just wanted to clean it well before I started this project. I will definitely take your advice about the soft brush. Be safe on that ride, and thanks for taking the time

I use CarPro Bug-out and its great, breaks down the enzymes and proteins from the bug and they just wash away, normally don't even have to scrub. Its safe for plastic, paint and glass.

I'm sure man, it was truck specific, nice and tight. With the course of time, it created these lines/marks in the clear coat.

I didn't even think people still used these on new cars. I would never put one on a new vehicle as I would also worry about them scratching up my clearcoat/paint.

Wax and wash your truck often.

    Not enough to list
Get a clear bra. I've had one installed for the past 2 years and it keeps that front looking brand new.

Here’s a pic of what I’m describing... Since the grille is so easy to remove, I attached the screening material through the 4 tabs on the bottom, and secured on top with the two radiator mount screws. No more bugs and especially rocks nailing those thin aluminum fins on the radiator. Looks dorky, but when the grille is on you don’t see it anyway.

I find bugs come off fine when I wash the truck or use Windex and let it sit a little before wiping

My issue is the windshield, I can wash the bugs off the front, it's the ones accumulating faster than my windshield washer and wipers can get rid of them
