Thought I'd share my mirror signal build. Recently ordered some turn signals from eBay to see how they opened up. Pretty easy actually, just used a razor knife to cut through the epoxy all the way around the perimeter.

I initially used a 4" generic strip that I found on eBay and was very disappointed in the brightness after adding 2 coats of Nite-Shades

You can see how dim the signal came out -

So after I installed them I decided to split the OEM signals. Stripped the chrome with Easy Off...

Decided the strip showed through too much so I repainted the chrome area black (from the inside)

Once I powered the light up I realized these strips were way brighter. Since I didn't like the white showing through, I went ahead and put a single coat of Nite-Shades on.

The lights dim when I turn the headlights on, but the camera was unable to catch it due to the light and aperture used.

Sorry no pictures of the wiring, I cut the OEM connector from the signal and used that for ground and turn signal, picked up a pink wire in the window switch harness for DRL signal, and the teal illumination wire in the switch for low power DRL.

Just ordered the LEDs. Went with amber instead of the switchback function. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

@gaterose where did you stick the driver for the LEDs?

I forgot you're doing just amber, if you haven't already done it, you should be able to hide the driver in the mirror instead of the door. I hid mine in the door because I had to tap into an ACC circuit and the illumination circuit

I’m wiring up mine the same as yours. Just amber instead of white.

It was pretty easy but I did use a multimeter to find the wires to pick up. I think I used a teal wire in each side for the illumination circuit and a pink wire for the acc/drl but I'd recommend checking with a test light or multimeter to be sure. Next time I have the door panel off I'm going to try to grab a picture but not sure when that'll be.

Oh man, I really like this mod with the switch backs. Are you planning on selling these premade or writing up an in-depth DIY guide?

    Thanks!

I sold the amber set to Batong and am open to selling more but I haven't put a lot of effort into promoting them. Maybe I should add some more instructions here.

Perhaps I'll have time this weekend.
