Do the ARB steps work as functional sliders as well?

Yes they do. At least the new ones do. They are way over engineered and have a mounting solution that is much better than the bolt-ons that everyone else offers. Check out the you tube reviews of them and you will see the cross member mount that they use. Its far superior.

I wouldn't call those rock sliders. The mounts are only on 3 points and still look flimsy compared to a normal 4 tubes mounting to the frame.

Mount at three points plus the cross member. Trust me, when you see them in person- they are anything but flimsy. Rock solid.

I spoke with Jacob at ARB yesterday. He advised that these steps will not support the vehicle, and cannot double as sliders.

That said, they do look stout. Debating between these and true sliders as I have no plans to “rock crawl”, but I do want a higher level of protection than a typical step or nerf bar would provide.

Pulled the trigger on these. Will post pics once installed.

Got my steps installed. While not a slider, these are still frame mounted and imho, offer a sturdier solution than a typical nerf bar or step.

How was the install on these steps from ARB? Just picked up a set for the Taco.
