Bought my (second) Tacoma sight un seen from a dealer in Utah. When my wife and I decided to start a family the extended cab went on craigslist and sold in a day. Colorado demands silly prices on Tacomas so buying out of state and shipping it here was was still 5k cheaper.
I slacked starting a build a thread so there will be some catch up, but now that i am on the road to linking it i figured a build thread would be fun and may help others down the same road. After all i have been stocking otger SAS threads and trying to soak up as much as i can.

Here is the truck on its first trip to Moab when she sat on 255 85 16's. In my opinion that is the perfect size tire if you are running an ifs or mid travel ifs setup. No rubbing and the narrower tires did great in snow, I could fly through bumpy sections and hit the bump stops all day long without any rubbing.

Some more from the first Moab tripDSC_2713.jpg Car wash tub]
DSC_2884.jpg Kanes Creek, put the first little dent in her on that rock off the driver rear.

Bit long of a wheel base for 255's, I humbly admit it took a tug from above to get up.DSC_2892.jpg

255's tuck nicely and required minimum work to the fenders. Going to 35's was a cumbersome step, I'll dig up some current photos and take some as she sits now. DSC_3066.jpg

Awesome truck man! I wish I wasn’t 8 hours from Moab. I used to live 4 hours from there in co.

IMG_3050.jpg IMG_3027.jpg IMG_3049.jpg Here is a little ring and pinion carnage from a run last August down near Colorado Springs. Super Charger + 35's = KABOOM! Whoops. Found the weak link hence the 9.5 that will be going up front. A rear axle build is also in inevitable, have not decided if that will be a ford 9 or a another 9.5. I don't trust 30spline in the rear, and I could go 32 spline but then I am limited to 4:88 gearing.

Not soon enough, not to jinx myself but i have yet to snap a cv but managed to explode the rear end!
Im actually headed to diamond / fror friday to get the caster set on my axle and finish it out with rcv shafts. Need a cross member to support the t case after crawl box install too.

Fun stuff! The CVs will last as long as you watch your wheelspeed and dont crank on them with the wheel turned hard. Spider gears are more what I would be worried about with your current setup

Here are some progress pics of the tcase build.

Welded keystock in shift fork to keep it in hi / lo option only.

Made the visit to diamond axle / fror to pick up my transfer case crossmember and drop off the axle housing for final caster set and have them burn in the stops and some gussetts. Those guys are great, Brian not only talked directly with Brian at 4wu to make sure we were headed the right direction but also gave me some tips and advice for my build. Ill be getting frame reinforcemnts, firewall plate and rcv 80series shafts from them.

Here is his 4runner on 37's with the rear axle and front clam swapped out.

In case anyone was curious to see the differences of the landcruiser 9.5's side by side. 20180624_141325.jpgtop is out of a 80 series, and the bottom is the older 9.5. 20180624_140608.jpg80 series on the right has a thicker ring gear, 41 count, ill have to count again but i think the one on the left is a 37 tooth with 9 on the pinion giving both a 4:11 ratio.20180624_140521.jpgthe plate the ring gear is bolted to is more substantial with more ribs on it compared to the older 9.5 both have 12 bolts though.

Need to figure out which ill install in the diamond, not sure if it matters much as i dont plan on putting a load bolt in it.

Ill snap a picture of the 9.5 next to the 8" i ha e for comparison.

Crawl box is ready to seal up, finally got the new bearings pressed on. Didnt want to risk damaging them installing with a dead blow on the inner race. 20180624_113219.jpg
All i need now are the poly bushings for the fror crossmember so i know what height to weld frame bracket at. Cadence will be shipping them out once they get them in.

Super simple... abs plastic with a screw on cap to fill (make sure to drill a pinhole in it or it will create a vacuum and not work)20180804_160447.jpg
    20180804_160512.jpg
Re used all the pump parts and attached them to a 3 way t fitting so there was a low spot.
    20180804_160521.jpg
Off the t is another piece of abs with a sealed end for more fluid storage... keeps it nice and warm tucked up next to the radiator.
I dod this so the reservior wasnt hanging down below the bumper. Can't take credit for it, saw it on here but forgot where.
