My dakars seem pretty flat even with just my cap weight on the truck, which is probably less than 200 lbs. @HolyHandGrenade sorry to get off topic but did you weld those guards on the fender portion of your rear bumper or they came with it?

Brute Force Bumper. It comes with them. I’ve had them on trees and rocks many times. Very glad they’re there.

    @Blackout14 ,doesn’t @redman have your leafs?

Maybe he can chime in on lift numbers. I know they flex well.

Was about to invest in a Dakar pack. Would probably have a bed drawer in full-time and a cap so from what I'm reading @Blackout14 is offering something more resilient ?

@geekhouse23, or anyone else in the know. If I add the D29XL leaf, I have to take my Dakars completely apart right? Grind all the rivets off and reinstall the alignment hangers?

No. you can leave the main leaf in place.

    Follow this step:
    - jack up vehicle, unload the axle
    - disconnect ubolts
    - place a large c clamp on the middle of the leaf
    - remove center pin
    - remove retainer bolts on the spring
    - remove c clamp and drop the lower leafs
    - install up to two AAL under main spring
    - install clamp and install center pin
    - put everything back together.

you may or may not need longer u bolts and center pin.

Pics from when we did my brother's. MUCH easier if you do it off the truck or before installing:

Same center pin is reused and the AAL slips between the second and third leaf from the top IIRC.

Yes, i've only done them on the vehicle and found it to be SUPER easy because you can use the jack and axle to align everything and then youre not fighting with clamps ;)

But yes, align the leafs in order of length. One thing you will notice is the lack of anti-friction plates on the AAL. you can install them if you wish. its just a little more laborious and really not worth it unless youre super anal
    https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-31067-Leaf-Spring-Insert/dp/B000TYU0FM

all you have to do is drill a small retaining hole in the ends of the leaf. you'll need 4 total if you do two AAL's

I see! I was afraid the aal would hit the rivet on the leaf above it when flexed.
    Ok cool!! Thanks!

This is a dumb question, but how can I tell if my pack is a HD? I bought mine used and that is just what I was told.

Isn’t just determined by how many leafs are in the pack?

    How many do you have?

Do you have any idea how much the bedslide weighs having put it in there? Have a similar box and would make things alot easier but maybe your box is built really stout
