    Both of mine did that. They go through phases where mommy is the only person who can calm them down. Daddy's okay for pre-bedtime story books, though. We've found reading to the kids before we put them down helped a lot with the calming down and transition to being quiet. YMMV

    The whole bonding thing is odd. It's a real thing, for sure. When we brought my daughter, our oldest, home from the hospital, my wife was sick. So I ended up on diaper and care duties for the first week. She and I bonded almost instantly. When we brought my son home, Annie was fine, and I was a lot busier at work. So I didn't get to know the second one as well early on. Hard to explain, really.
