I am thinking a sit down dinner is what I am after . The wife does not care much for buffets as everything is usually too cold good food or not . Looking for a anniversary setting .

Figure out a basic plan on where abouts you want to be, and we shall find you a place to eat.

Really, just drive along the coast til you find a little shack that looks like its been there since 1940 and hasnt been renovated. It probably has no indoor seating and just a few picnic tables outside. Thats where you find your most cost-effective and delicious eating experience. That being said, Taste of Maine is a pretty good experience usually and has good views depending on the tide.

Your wife would probably like a dish called the "Lazy Lobster" which most places around here will have. Basically they take all the meat out of the shell for you. Costs you a few $$ extra but no mess.

Haven't been there in years, but, 25 years back they had a wild game menu as well as seafood once or twice a year.
The owner and his son were big time hunters and traveled the world.
Just about every type of wild game was served and it was excellent.

Listen to him as he speaks the truth.
Up till a few years ago, I traveled to coastal Maine for 5 years straight, usually right after Labor Day.
Found the best food and the best prices at those small local places.

I have not had a rainy day to spend in the house for a week now to look for where we want to go . It has been beautiful here and yard work and fishing has taken over . The next chance I get I will hit you all up for advice if you have time . The 1st. bluegill spawn is just about over now (freezer is stocked )but the stripers are calling on Lake Norfork .

I'm out of Turkey mode now and Striper mode will kick in shortly.
Everything is late this year, but the big boys will be rolling in shortly.

Well the wife got involved and we researched flying and getting a Lobster dinner in Maine . She saw the prices and said she does not want us to spend $1200 to $2000 for a night or 2 and a meal . I did find this though . Anyone know if it is a ripoff or a better place that does the same thing ?

    https://www.thelobsterguy.com/

it says overnight shipping to me would be less than $50 for (2) 2 1/2 to 3 pound live lobsters or about $130 total. Does it make a difference if the lobster is live or frozen as far a taste ? Does a smaller lobster taste better than a larger one ?
I am thinking of just the lobster meat by the pound ?
We decided to drive and spend the weekend in Nashville Tn. (6 hours away by car) They have a big paddle boat lunch cruise she wants to do on the General Jackson Showboat

    https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...on_the_General_Jackson-Nashville_Davidson.htm

Then hit a nice restaurant in Nashville for dinner the next day after an afternoon of musical entertainment .
We can order a lot of fresh seafood on the savings and it was her call , so I'm good and I tried !. Thanks for the responses guys !

I have been reading more and now am unsure where to buy from . you guys who live there have it made when it comes to knowing good seafood . I am reading how one can tell a lot more about a lobster when it is alive and together as apposed to shelled and froze etc. I think I will be buying live. I have the big pot to do the killing in as I use it for Catfish de- sliming before smoking them . Not squeamish about it anyway .

    https://www.reluctantgourmet.com/buying-lobster-tails/

I will be doing it but not sure where from lol. And I will be looking up Lobster rolls !
    Thanks again !

My mother is the daughter of a commercial Gloucester fisherman. You ever see the movie "The Perfect Storm?" With the Crows Nest bar? She grew up in that bar. Literally. First name basis with everyone in there. The point is, she knows seafood and lobster is her favorite. Anyway, every New Years Eve I have a dinner shipped to her from this place: https://www.mainelobsterdirect.com/ It's always amazing, the shipping is amazing, the lobsters are amazing... I've done this for like 15 years and when I tell her I want to do something else for her she gets mad and says "No!" So that company now has gotten literally thousands of dollars of my money and it's always been top notch. Highly recommended.

Oh absolutely. And keep in mind I live in NH and spend a lot of weekends in Maine... I can get really, really fresh lobsters here. Those guys however are top notch. I usually get them the Nor' East Feast.
