First post on the forum! Just sold my GTI and got a Tacoma double cab and LOVE IT!

I picked up some clazzio seats and wondered if anyone has reused the plastic backing? I have only seen people put the seat cover over the top. I notched out some spaces in the back so the plastic hooks fit in ( scary to cut into brand new seat covers, but who claims warranties anyways ) And I was able to reuse the plastic. 86BADD05-2DFE-422E-A501-03AA9B67837E.jpg0D81DC94-10F7-49D0-9DB9-E87A5E537210.jpg 9A9C956E-25EF-47FC-9793-59ECE966DA4D.jpgEA690724-5827-4047-B3AA-F40FF3493823.jpg

I’ve enjoyed my Clazzio seat covers.
    No plastic covers for me.
Good luck with your seat covers

It was like 5-10 minutes. I think it’s two screws per side. Not bad at all

Cool. Thanks. I think that's definitely worth doing, but I'm OCD like that. Yours looks great, btw.

Thanks! Me too. If Toyota designed the plastic covers, no need to get rid of them

I am about to pull the trigger on a set of Clazzios. What does everyone do with the plastic back plate for the seats? I have bee reading through the main Clazzio thread and their really isn't much information regarding it. I am assuming that everyone just installs these over the plastic plate and no cutting is necessary?

Did you see my second picture? I cut notches in the back of the seats and they just slide in over the covers. But yea they slide over if you don’t want to cut them. They haven’t torn or anything and I just had my 300+ pound buddy sit back there for a 400 mile road trip

Yes, this. I pulled off the plastic pieces, cut small slits in the Clazzios where they need to let the plastic pieces of the backs to connect, and put the hard pieces on over the covers. Looks OEM and I'm glad I did it.

Hey thanks a bunch I understand now. I was having a dumb moment there for a minute. The large latch holes come pre-cut from Clazzio. Small holes need to be cut where the plastic back plate mounts to the seat. Thanks again for the clarification.

No problem. I was a little hesitant and nervous about cutting holes in $500+ covers, but once you get going and get it done, you'll be pleased with the results.

Installed fronts about ready to do rears on my 2018. How did u get the black plastic off the back of the backrest ? Want it to look OME like yours rather than just go over plastic. I read u just cut slits on the covers so the plastic fits on them ..Thanks

How long did it take for you all to receive your Clazzio seat covers?

I think I may do this also. I have had the covers for 2 years already so wont hurt as much to cut into them! :sawzall: Still looks looks like brand new.

Found this vid showing how to take the plastics off. I couldn't find all the screws at first. There are 3 on the passenger side seat, 2 on the driver side. Very easy once you know where they are. Relevant part is at the 1:00 mark:
