I have a 2004 with an extended cab. The truck currently has the stock equipment, and I have cannot stand having to use a cassette AUX any more. I am looking to replace the stereo to something with at least and AUX port. I also would like to add a sub, however I do not know the best place to put it. Because I have an extended cab I do no want to take up the already limited space I have behind my seats, so I am thinking of putting the sub under one of the seats. I am rather inexperienced with this and would love any and all advice I can get. Any notes, suggestions, and tips are very appreciated.

Not sure I've ever seen a sub under a 1st gen seat - pretty tight under there. Head unit should be easy enough though. What's your budget? DIY or are you paying an installer?

I made a box for one 8" sub that is in my middle console. Check out the link at the bottom, I have dimensions in there for it. Probably won't fit your '04, but it's a start.

I'd recommend building you own box. Start by cutting cardboard and duct tape to mock-up a box. Then draw the cutout of the subwoofer on it.

I'd say get a 4-channel amp, and run it in 3-channel mode. Bridge channels 3+4 and go mono to your subwoofer. And put a decent set of component speakers in the door. You shouldn't have to spend much money on a deck, only 150 bucks or so. Bluetooth is REALLY nice, for calls and for listening to songs from your phone. This will be a hell of an upgrade for your truck.

    Good luck and post pics!
