I got a notice from Toyota to bring in my Tacoma for a drive shaft vibration which it has. The service advisor tried sell me services I didn't need like front end alignment that was done less than a year ago, tires that are less than a year old and wheel balance. She then informed me there was a $119 diagnostic fee that was refundable if the driveshaft was the problem.
The dealer replaced the frame / chassis under warranty , but not before doing $900 for questionable services. Before I picked up the truck they said I needed a new steering rack. Having worked in automobile repair for 15 years I knew there was no problem with the steering. I refused to be ripped off for any more unnecessary repairs.
I called Toyota headquarters and told them by sending me a notice to come in for a warrantied repair and then demanding $119 before addressing the issues at hand they were close to committing consumer fraud. It's been over a month since I spoke with Toyota headquarters. They were supposed to contact me with information regarding a dealer who doesn't demand a $119 diagnostic fee.
Has anyone out there had a similar experience?
