How to work out the 4x4 system?

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
    Not as geared down so its turning faster in low. Do check the oil level.

    I hear it in my 4cyl manual but never got it out of 2nd.
    I don’t hear it in my V6 auto and that’s been in 5th in low.

    Maybe because the manual tranny, somewhat similar how you hear it whine in reverse.

    How did you bust a case haha. I've turned on dry concrete sharply in 4 low, climbed slickrock in 4low/high. Plenty of snowy highway that breaks into dry highway. Were you doing burnouts haha?

    If its the noise I think you are talking about, I hear it on my auto 3rd gen and did in my auto 1st gen, pretty sure its the chain and sprockets whining.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    It's supposed to do that when you're using planetary gears to multiply torque and divide speed haha. Mine sings at 55mph redlining

    Like it was mentioned, it’s the gears making that noise in 4LO. Different beast to the 4.0 combo.

    2nd Gen sounded more motor than gears.
