that's right I have information about several problems with the windshield of many 3gen tacomas. It has thinner layers than the previous ones and is being more prone to breakage more easily than any other windshield

I had a thick sheet of ice half the size of the hood come off and hit my 2016 windshield at 35mph once. Amazing crash. I thought it was coming through. Windshield took it no problem.

Really? By how much?. What's the cross sectional dimension of the glass off a gen1 vs gen2 vs gen3? I assume with your statement you have measurement data to back up your claim.

You have failure rate data to back this up? What's the number of windshield failures per 1000 for gen3 Tacomas? How does that compare to the same data for Frontiers and the GM twins?

Sorry to be a dick about this, but I'm trying to make a point; please don't try to pass off hearsay and anecdotal evidence as facts. There is enough bad information floating around these forums without you adding to it.

I had a 76 Chevy and an 80 Ford that the windshield wipers left scratches in them and fogged around the edges. I had to change out the Ford's windshield at 40K because it had so many pits and nicks that I couldn't see through it while driving into the sun. Please don't think that "The windshields on these trucks are garbage" because, at least since '78 when I started driving, they have all been the same. They chip and they crack. At least now the middle plastic layer does not fog up like they used to...

I want to say the 3rd Gen has thicker windshield glass, l recall reading that they added a layer to help make the truck quieter.

I mean, that's like every windshield of every car I have owned after a few years. They get debris kicked up and get chipped and pitted, it happens.

OP, I'd be curious to see what the outside of the windshield looks like. At one point did a rock kick up and put a fracture in it that you couldn't see because of the mirror? That happened on my old Ford Focus except it was way down low then one day I turned the heat up and a huge crack formed.

Are you by chance going to part it out?
