Yeah, I think with our trucks it won’t hit the brakes until the accident is eminent.

I have mine turned all the way down. If I could turn it off I would. Mine has only gone off a few times though.

AH. Yeah, I never let it get that close. Though it does worry me that it could go crazy and brake out of nowhere. Already had it yell at me once to brake when I passed parked cars. :/

for those too lazy to watch that video, if you scroll to the furthest right menu option on the cluster, there is a PCS sensitivity control.

Crawl control? Is that for beltway traffic?

haha right now Toyota is only using RADAR (RAdio Detection And Ranging) for their cruise and braking system. THe problem with that is, and people experienced a bit of it this past winter, is weather. If you are in a heavy snow, rain or fog then RADAR does not work. Next gen will move towards FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radar) that will be much better, but, weather will still F it up. Anyone ever wonder why all the testing of autonomous vehicles has been in SoCal or Arizona? Sunny weather is the answer. That tech is not ready for primetime nationwide.
Now, whoever figures out how to take weather out of the equation will win the game...https://www.wirelessdesignmag.com/blog/2017/09/five-flaws-holding-driverless-cars-back

It will be interesting to see a fleet of autonomous vehicles navigate a morning commute in a snowstorm. I’m thinking it’s gonna be a shit-show. Kinda like it already is now, the only difference is the “passengers/victims” will be at the mercy of the computers, rather than in charge of the situation.

    Who knows......might actually be safer?

You can turn it off, but have to do it each time you start the vehicle.
