Tire shine stained my brand new white off road, and so did Meguiars Cleaner Wax

So some of you may have already seen the below thread of another members problems with tire shine staining his white truck. I bought mine brand new on Saturday. When I walked up to it on the lot I noticed it has A LOT of tire shine, literally dripping, off of the tires. Well, by the time I got it home, 45 minute drive, and began washing the truck, the paint was already stained exactly like shown in the below link, little brown splatter marks all over. I really wish I would have asked the dealer to remove the tire dressing before I left the lot. Its important to note that only the "rough" section of paint on the lower portions of the truck were stained. I was able to get it off of the smooth portions using mineral spirits and compound. Anyway, I spent all day sunday using mineral spirits, compound, Meguiars Cleaner Wax, several bug and tar removers, etc. and nothing would budge it. After I applied the wax and then buffed it off, I noted the paint was faintly stained yellow as well and I couldn't remove that either. So yesterday morning I took the truck back to the dealer and they've tried everything to remove the stains with no luck. They just called and said they would have to repaint the doors.
I just wanted to post this and let everyone be aware to be careful what comes in contact with their paint, especially if they have a white truck. I read somewhere where the lower "rough" portion of paint on the trucks are more porous and susceptible to absorbing and staining.
Anyway, below is the other guys thread who is facing the same situation and if you want to see pics of the stains, he's got some posted that look exactly like mine. I'm not sure what type of tire shine the dealer was using but it DEFINITELY stained this brand new white tacoma.

Talk to the dealer. I wouldnt even bring up the tire shine just ask why the paint seems to have a defect.

The dealer already has it and agrees that it was the tire shine that caused it.

Yep I think thats what's going to happen, they can't get it out either. I tried all day and literally tried every suggestion I could find online and nothing would ever budge it.

Happened to my 2016 Quicksand. The sun faded it out of the paint in about two days.

When my truck came in, i was at the dealer about an hour after the truck dropped it off. I refused to let them wash it. Never ever let a dealer wash your truck.

If you want it done right, do it yourself.

The last 3 new vehicles I've purchased I specifically stated to the sales person NOT to let the detail crew apply any type of tire treatment or the deal woud be off. You need to be proactive in these matters.

Add another victim to the list. It was pretty easy to remove from the upper paint surfaces (and 3 pairs of pants, from rubbing up against the rear tires before I figured out what was causing it) with GooGone, but rocker panel surfaces of my brand new Cement Off Road are completely speckled and nothing will remove it...magnification shows that it has nicely penetrated into the finish. Dealer tried to remove without any luck either. But so far they've totally dismissed me, and are not accepting any responsibility...they say it has to be something else I drove through "because we've never seen this before." Classic dealership BS, had hoped for better from Toyota. Sent them all these threads to convince them it's not my imagination, no reply yet. Yeah, it's a truck and I hope it gets properly dinged up soon in the mountains where it belongs, but it's the principle...

So yeah, if you order new light-colored Off-Road, be SURE to tell them you won't accept delivery if they put this stuff on. Especially if you take delivery when it's hot, because the stuff gets runny and continues to spin off even after a couple of scrubbings. Actually, it might be more satisfying to watch them spend hours trying to scrub it all off the tires before you accept it.

Just to explain previous photos...first 2 are duplicate, and is before cleaning. Bottom one is after removing from smooth paint above rocker.

That REALLY sucks! Tire shine is the devil's spawn. You're better off staying away from it completely, especially if you off-road.

They will compound out if you get a professional detailer to work on it. I speak from experience!

Your other option is to return it to the dealer and walk away. Unwind the deal if you financed.

Have you tried using a clay bar?

I had the same issue yea on my cement off road, good wash, proper clay bar application, and then wax will get the job done

I wouldn't let the dealer repaint my doors. Not on my brand new truck, like you mentioned . I would take it to a detail shop, or try clay bar. Give them the bill, or better yet make them get you a new truck. Since they admitted it was there tire shine, that caused it.

Another frustrating thing- getting new off road tires for your 4-wheel drive truck and having them put tire shine on them when asked not to because you were planning on going out on dusty dirt roads right afterwards. :annoyed:
