The previous shell on my '04 Tacoma was not an LED 3rd brake light and I wired it up by splicing into the brake lamp wires at the rear of the truck. It worked fine. This new shell has an LED 3rd brake and when I connect the wires that are connected to the brake light and press on the brakes it does not work.
    • I have tried all combinations of the wires.
    • I can even get the dome light to work off the brake light connection.
    • Confirmed the brake light is good by connecting 18v cordless tool battery to it.
    • Multimeter reads 0.8v coming off the truck brake light.
It seems as though the 3rd brake light on the shell is not getting enough power. I have a 7 pin and 4 pin trailer connection as well if I need to utilize them. Any ideas on how to get this 3rd brake light on the shell to work with the brakes?
