I receive several packages a month through different sellers, including Amazon, and I have been seeing a trend lately. I keep getting told by various vendors that items cannot be shipped to my PO box even when they say they are using USPS. These are not large items and they dont require any signatures. No one can ever give me an explanation as to why, they just say their system wont allow it. Anyone have any idea why?

BTW, I dont have a mailbox because it kept getting vandalized, so I took it down and had the post office forward mail addressed to my physical address to my PO box. So when a vendor sends a package to my physical address, there isnt enough postage for it to be forwarded to my PO box and it gets returned to the sender, unless I drive 25 minutes to the post office and intercept it before it gets returned.

Edit: my PO box is located in a different zip code and i pass by it every day on my way home from work.

You may be able to use the Post Office's address and put Apt number as your PO box number. I kne someone who had success with that.

    :D

    :notsure:

Doubtful, as he might not be able to have the PO box he already has?

Regardless, how would the shipping vendor know that?

Why not just ship it to your office. Also there are places (at least here) that are designated drop off points for Fedex and ups. Like 7-11's or CVS, walgreens.

    Good point, thanks.

I am just trying to understand the reasoning behind this, thought there might be some vendors on here who might know why.

    Thanks all!

My small Post Office does not do home delivery, have to use a POB. Using PayPal for some transactions, I've had to use my physical for the sale from eBay to go thru. I try to include a note to show my POB too.

Mail is not delivered to street addresses here; we must use the PO box, too. This is a small town. The bureaucrat running the post office recognizes names and knows which box is appropriate, but she insists that the PO box be included in the address. She will accept a second line in the address with "#(box number)." I use that for nearly all orders now. It saves the frustration of going back in the checkout process to remove the PO box when the seller rejects it. Don't know how that will help the OP, tho, since his PO box is in a different zip code.

I'm lucky I guess that they know me a little, at least the latest clerk does, knows I collect old stoves, most parcels have my mailing address. I get numerous packages each month.

Nope. Had a PO Box for about 20 years and never had a refused delivery. I do NOT write the PO Box number on my address. I use the word "Suite" as the box number. All my banking records, school records, military records, voting records, drivers license, concealed carry, tax offices, real estate etc ALL have the PO Box (Suite) address as my official address.

UPS/Fedex/RL Freight/USPS all deleiver to my PO Box (Suite).

20 years ago was a different time. Now if you try to ship something overnight UPs to a PO box, it wont happen. No matter how you word it. Brown santa isn't going into the post office for any reason

It's a bit much when Cheryl in accounting, who happens to share the same last name opens up the wrong box and finds a fleshlight.

I'm talking right now (as in the present). Their own website says that you need a "valid street address" in order to complete delivery. If the PO Box facility has an address, then THAT is a valid street address. I have stuff from UPS delivered every week..... and have..... for 19 years.

    https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/sri/ship-box.page

I use the address of the mail facility. Maybe this is a technicality they don't want people to know about?
