Morning all, meeting with my contractor today about finally starting a bridge we have been waiting a few months on. Then up to VT to pick up my fathers boat from storage. We will see how the taco does pulling about 4.5k. Towing around my lawn mower and trailer seems to be a struggle and those are only about 2k total. Lots of big hills too.

Shrug. If he's got AWD he can probably get to all of the same places that most of the people I see with RTT's go. Seems like mostly they're in fields and campgrounds, seems like. The most rugged terrain most of them have to tackle to get to their camping spot is a washboard-y dirt road or a big puddle

I see more than a few Subaru's with RTT's around here in an average summer. Mostly Foresters and Crosstreks, but every so often you see an Impreza with one.

I bet a 2wd crossover could get to most places almost everyone else with a RTT goes.I see a silverado all the time that has one mounted on bed bars.

I had a John Deere 2320 with the loader on a 19' car hauler the other day. I think it was about 5200 lbs total. F-150 did great. The low end torque of that engine is awesome.

With the trailer empty (2800 lbs), I could barely tell it was there.

Methinks you quoted the wrong post...

The 2.7 really is deceiving when you tow. With such a flat torque curve (and all of the torque available at low RPM's) it really does tow like a much bigger motor.
I borrowed the GF's dad's dump trailer to get a few yards of gravel the other weekend. First really heavy thing I've towed with this truck and it handled it like a champ, but towing with an NA motor again is taking a little getting used to. Need to hold the revs higher to keep it in the power band. Sounds nice, though.

It was content sitting at 2000 RPM on the hills. On the really steep stuff, I think I saw 2500. No problem maintaining speed.

Engine braking isn't as bad as I thought it would be with such a small engine--tow haul mode does a good job kicking down where it should. I like how the integrated brake controller works too. Brake pressure proportional is so much better than the timed one I had in the Tacoma.
