Have you ever tried to winch with a highlift? It's very difficult to do even on flat ground.

Yea I tried it out a couple of times so far... Definitely agree that it is not the ideal recovery method at all, but it will work until that time that I get a winch (if that)... Not really a fan of any of the current aluminum bumper offerings out there for the 4R, and even if so, I'll only be on the upper or lower roads on my way to camp... Don't see myself doing Donkey... ever... lol..

I've been up there is some crazy heavy rain. Old video leaving camp with my neighbor and @1uzrnr back when I just had a mid travel lift and 32" duratracs and I was fine. Even the 2wd sequoia on street tires only needed a tug a couple times. He even made it up the big uphill S turn where a lot of people have a hard time. But there was a red 4x4 ford ranger with BFG ATs that couldn't make it up the long straight uphill a little bit after leaving the camp. Jesse offer to tow him up but the guy didn't think we'd make it out either

After awhile, I switched to 2wd too so I could have some fun sliding around :D

Sweet deal man. I think my consensus is that I'll be fine :fistbump:.

I really want to see your truck sometime! I was reading through your build. Thing is a beast.

Aloha TW Oahu peeps. I just bought my first 4x4 and it ended up being a used 2011 Tacoma OR with only 47K miles on it. Since then, I have been lurking and going down rabbit holes. I ended up puting a little front lift on it (Toytec coils and Bilstein 5100 PITA), got some used OME shcoks off of TW (PITA install), wheel spacers, plasti dipped my wheels and emblems, and put some d-rings on the front bed bolts (PITA). My leaf springs are shot so I am in the process of figuring out what to do about them. This forum has been a lifesaver especially when working on a 7 yr old truck that has rust frozen bolts and what not. Anyway, I would like to meet some like minded people and do some rambling. Back in the day when I was growng up we used to ramble at Norfolk, and Alan Davis. Also went up to Peacock Flats a couple times, but I never had my own 4x4 so I was always a passenger. If there are any organized off road days, I wouldnt mind tagging along. The pic is of the truck without the lift.Stock Tacoma.jpg
