Hey everyone, I'm looking into getting a new Tacoma TRD Sport, and really want a manual transmission. I have only been able to find 1 manual Tacoma, a TRD Off Road, within 100 miles of me. I test drove it and everything felt great except for I noticed that when in traffic my foot would slide up the clutch pedal a little and my toe would catch on the bracket for the brake pedal. Has anyone else with a manual felt that? Was it something you were able to adapt to easily? That's the only thing holding me back at this point from pulling the trigger and ordering one

Makes no sense. That's either user error or something is wrong under there.

You'd get used to it, just make sure you want a manual, these trucks suck to drive stick in grid lock. Otherwise a great choice!

Welcome to TW! I have driven many many MT vehicles in my life and every clutch, pedal and shifter has been different from the rest. I don't have any issues with mine but again, I am used to adapting to what I'm driving. Good luck!

Yep, it happens. I wear a 13, so I have to use more toe than I was used to. But I got acclimated quickly, have about 600 miles on mine so far.

I find it hard to drive the Taco when wearing my work boots because they are large and the pedals on the Taco are rather small. My toes will occasionally touch the pedal arm/bracket if I'm not careful wearing said work shoes. I would practice driving and get used the cluth pedal wearing your most used shoe.

Don’t hesitate just get it. I’m a size 12 and mostly wear sneakers while driving (occasionally boots) and never really have a problem. As it was said in another post you’ll adjust quickly to it. Cheers

I agree... just get it.

The clutch in my newly acquired 2016 was a little weird feeling at first coming from nearly 18 years of kicking my old Tacoma's original clutch, but I got used to the new one pretty quickly.

Funnily enough, that bugged me in the first month or so, but can’t say I’ve noticed it in the last year or more. So, I’d say you’ll get used to it. Certainly hasn’t been a danger anytime recently.

Mine gets caught once every week or two. I haven’t figured out where it’s caught though. I get caught near the obd II port. I’m used to driving my Opel Gt manual that you have to have your foot high on the clutch pedal. I have to remember to keep my foot close to the floor that’s all:)

Maybe the dealer got a bit happy with the Armor-all lol?

I don't have that problem, but it took a while to get used to the seating position as it relates to the clutch and the length of my lower legs. Smashed my left shin on the lower dash panel a few times till I got it just right.

You'll be fine and the M/T is a good choice.

First welcome to TW, it is a great forum with a shit ton of information and entertainment. Secondly, I highly recommend the MT in these trucks, very smooth. Third, never noticed my foot sliding up, but I wear most hiking sneaks or boots. Of course trying to drive in ski boots is not recommended even if it is across the parking lot to get closer to the bar :anonymous:

In smaller vehicles it gets crowded down there with 3 pedals vs 2. I had similar issues at 1st with a Wrangler after being used to driving full size trucks. Once you get used to it you'll adapt and not notice.

My foot will only slide around on the clutch pedal if the bottom of my boot is wet. I solved that by sticking a chunk of this to the pedal. Fit perfectly.

Check the truck again to make sure the rubber pad is actually on the clutch pedal.

Wow thanks for all the replies everyone, some good info there. I might have to drive that one again since there isn't a single other manual Tacoma within 80 miles of me and see if it's something I could fix or get used to. It's been a long time since I've owned an auto and would much prefer to stick with a manual, I just have to make sure it's something I love before dropping close to 40k on a car

The Manuals are definitely hard to come by, well worth owning though.
