Suki made it out of her cat carrier and OMFG my poor little girl! I can’t believe I put her through all of that I had no idea she would have 20 staples down her stomach. The vet said he made a 2 cm incision in her stomach. I just wasn’t ready to see a 8” long incision down her abdomen. At least she’s loaded on the animal version of morphine to help with the pain.

    Oh my gosh
If it eases your mind, our boy had an incision from his throat to his privates (his intestines went into his heart/lung cavity and was essentially strangling him) and after the initial first night he did remarkably well. I hope Suki does the same. The vet said they seem to deal with the pain better than humans. :notsure:
Nevertheless, I know you guys probably won’t sleep tonight (we certainly didn’t) but hang in there and remember you’re only trying to do what is best for your little girl. Please let us know how she is doing. :pout:

Maybe try some more liquid-y food in a syringe if you have issues feeding. Had a siamese with cancer for a while, when she wouldn't eat we would fill syringes with turkey baby food and she didn't protest much to it. When she got better we still gave it to her occasionally because she liked it so much haha. If you don't have any larger oral syringes head to a local walmart pharmacy and ask if they can give you a couple 10ml syringes. I'm a tech at one and since we don't sell them on the shelves or anything like that I'll just give hand-fulls of them to people if they ask. Most will open at 9am on saturdays but if you live in a smaller town you might have to double check that online first. Turkey baby food should give them the caloric intake they'll need to prevent loosing too much weight while you wait for those lab results, and it'll also help in conjunction with that antibiotic since it's pretty nasty tasting. It'll also be easier on those biopsy spots, since they can feel a little sore. Idk if you've ever had one done but you can definitely feel them afterwards haha. Also, a little vitamin E oil on that incision if the cat can bare you touching it will keep it a bit moist and help with the healing process. stuff is pretty cheap in any vitamin section of a store. If you have capsules of vitamin E at home those can also be punctured and rubbed on. Good luck!

Nothing to write home about and that’s why I now feel so bad for putting her through this. The vet only saw what he described as a tiny lesion almost like something poked into her intestine. He was able to take a sample of it just in case. He said the lower intestine was filled with some really nasty smelling gas. I was just hoping they pull out a big fur ball and say hip that was it. Now we’re back to where we were. Thanks for checking in.

Thank you for all the great ideas. I think we have a syring that’ll work for that. We had a really old cat at one point an we had to add this powder to her food. At one point we were mixing it with a little water and squirting it down her throat. The vet sent us home with a can of food specifically for this type of thing. He told us she probably wouldn’t eat but offer her s little after a few hours. We gave her about a teaspoon full and she actually ate it all. Very encouraging! She goes back to the vet tomorrow so they’re going to work on getting something meaningful in her stomach. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.

That's good to hear, also if it makes you feel any better the incision looks great. Whoever put it back together did a nice job and it looks like it should all heal nice and easy, looks like you've got a good vet ;)

As people we are really pathetic compared to animals. They are physically way more reselient than us people. I just hate not being able to tell her why this is happening and it’s just to help her feel better. I was talking to her earlier this evening and as out of it as she was she started purring and her front paws were opening and closing like she was kneading. Will post back tomorrow afternoon with a status update. Thanks for caring but being that you’ve been though even worse you get it for sure.

Yes we are really lucky in that regard. Been going to this vet since he opened his first office over 20 years ago. This particular vet is fairly new but you can tell her really cares. I’ve had my fair share of open wounds too and I agree it looks nice and clean but it was just a shock when I first saw it. My heart just sank!

Mine would too! I'd probably be taking off work if my cat was in the same boat haha.

Believe me I’m already making s list of excuses not to go into work on Monday. At least my wife is now off for the summer and if there’s 1 person on this planet that cares more about this cat it’s her.

My kid is is learning how not to treat the kitty. The evidence is on her face where he took a swing at her, now covered with two lovely bandaids. We’ve been telling her for 4 years to be gentle with him. Maybe now she’ll listen.

Ours won't draw blood on the kid. Our son is 9 now. I watched my son when he was 5 (completely naked ) hold our cat in both arms over a bathtub. Not a mark on the kid.

Sounds like your cat is who my wife thinks her cat is. He’s been very good with the kid, but there seems to be a limit to his patience. My cat would never put up with her shit and as a result she treated my cat a lot better.

    Hi,
She spent the better part of the day back st the vets office today. She slept solidly all night last night and was looking good this am before we left to take her back. Shortly before we picked her up this afternoon she got another pain injection so she’s a bit out of it but purrs when she’s petted. Then she just lays her head back down. I’m hoping when the pain medicine starts wearing off she will show a little interest in eating. This has been a really stressful ordeal and can’t wait to get our old Suki back. Thanks for checking in.

Oh there is a limit, but some how some reason no matter how sharp his claw are. He stops just short of making him bleed. As for my wife and I.... he barely makes contact and we have to get a bandaid.
