I have a 2nd gen, so not sure if it is the same (I think it is), but the OR models have 3 M8x1.25 threaded studs on the passenger fender in the engine bay.

    upload_2018-5-8_15-41-19.jpg

I had a piece of 1/8 inch steel cut to fit and drilled to accept the stud pattern, then secured with 2 nylock nuts and 1 bolt.
On the 2nd gens the 3 bolts are on a slant, so I had to use a nut coupler for one of the studs to make a sort of pedestal to get the plate level. I used nylocks on the 2 even ones and the bolt through the plate to the nut coupler.

Here is my MS paint blueprint (pretty good right?)

EDIT: I forgot I had 2 nylock under the plate on the even studs to it wouldn't shift up or down. I also put a metal fender washer on either side of the plate with a pair of rubber fender washers sandwiched in between to isolate some of the vibration.

Hers my install as promised. Not really a good picture, but it shows the location, and I fabbed a two-piece steel bracket similar to what @Gunshot-6A showed in his post. It’s held up for over a year ... the black Velcro strap is there just to hold the compressor from rolling around if something breaks. Haven’t needed it yet :)

Bit late, but where do you have the alligator clips? I see youve ziptied off the power cable, did you remove the alligator clips and just permanently connect to the battery like you would with any other accessory like an led bar?

It’s hard wired into a fused lead off the battery. By the way, I guess it’s been another year with a few hundred more miles of dirt and trails, plus 10K or so pavement, and the bracket is still holding up.

Sorry for offtopic, but I should ask are you sure that you have isolation for all these positive nuts exposed under the hood? Looks like it's not fully covered by stock rubber cover.

These large billet aluminum terminal blocks are the predominant configuration in the car audio World for probably the last 20 years. It's a proven, reliable, and safe method for attaching high gauge and high current carrying power wires to the battery. With minimal risk for shorting the positive battery terminal to ground. Nothing is fully idiot proof so if a breaker bar gets laid on the top of the battery sparks could fly.

I have a Smittybilt 5.65 compressor mounted to my bed pocket, with overland essentials compressor mount.
    Hardwired in, without a tank.
Currently with 33’s it does well, I may add a tank at some point, and a custom hose setup so I can air up all 4 tires at the same time at the same psi.

I'm asking from sporting perspective, when I was involved in off road local racing it was a rule written by blood, isolate all positive rods/nuts, because in case of collision the metal part of hood can contact it and can be a cause of fire

I'm into slow paced overlanding, nothing aggressive, no rock crawling, no trail blazing, this configuration is more than safe for my needs.

It may not be for everyone.
