When I torque to the proper setting and the nut doesn't line up should I back off or torque up? When I back off to line up I can turn nut by hand.

I always go more, backing off can cause slack in the pressed fit. If I'm really worried, I back it off, release the press fit and try again.

I also don't torque press fittings like ball joints and tie rods, I go by feel but I work on these every day. I find that tolerances can cause issues with torquing press items. I've seen knuckles split because of overtorquing, even to spec.

I should have stopped where my driver stopped me at. At 60 pounds I went further then where my driver stopped. My driver did the job for my harmonic balancer

My SPC UCA's told me to tighten it to spec and to get the nut to line up continue tightening until the cotter pin could be inserted.

I'm going to keep an eye on those knuckles, I don't trust factory specs entirely that's why I have concerns
