Getting the rear diff fill plug off?

    The drain plug is magnetic.

    Considering the OP has an 06, I would go the easy route. Buy a few extra bottles of gear oil, whatever is cheap. Fill the diff up, drive for a little bit, change it again, then maybe do it one more time. Most of the shards and shit will eventually come out on the drain plug.

    It may be too late for this, but if you haven't done so already, back the truck up on to ramps. This will give you more clearance below for a longer breaker bar

    This is one of the reasons you always remove the fill plug before the drain plug :D

    it was a dumb Idea drilling a hole all the way through. I wasn't planning on drilling it all the way through just enough to tap a hex socket in the hole and get it out that way. But I went farther then I planned

    '13 5 lug AC w/convenience package
    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    Soak w/quality penetrant as suggested.

    Tap w/ball peen as suggested.

    6 point socket on the nut as suggested.

    Lefty loosey.

    Long breaker bar, pipe extension if needed to get more than 24".

    Put the end of the handle in the cup of your floor jack.

    Jack slowly, allow the weight of the truck to be your muscle, making sure the socket stays square to the nut as you lift.

    Map gas.... put a breaker bar on it.. of it's in the rust belt, penetrating oil is a waste of time money and effort... the north east laughs at penetrating oil... lmfao!

    Not sure if you still need the replacement nut, but can prob get one at a Lexus dealer if Toyota one isn’t near.

    I know you more need help with getting the old one out, but wasn’t sure if you were still looking for new one with the advanced auto comment.
