Yes you definitely could do that, and it would ALMOST be the same. The TemboTusk skottle has legs though so it stands tall anywhere and you don't need a table or surface to place it on. It can also work with many different burner types and the burner, legs, and disk are stable with how they are put together using the brackets and mounting points welded to the skottle. The dish also comes pre-seasoned and coated so you can use it right out of the box.

You can definitely do a different yet similar setup, but not anywhere near the quality that the TemboTusk skottle is. I absolutely love mine and use it EVERYWHERE including camping, the backyard, family and friend's houses, and the beach or park. And this is just an honest review. I had a similar setup before but it wasn't stable, and then another setup that was too bulky and heavy. Then came across this and never went back. Hardly ever use pots or pans or my coleman stove anymore. Less bulk and it does everything.

Love your taco btw. That thing is awesome and what I aspire my 4Runner build to look like one day.

 

I wonder if they would do the discount for the Overland Bound Edition of the Skottle. It's pretty sweet with blacked out legs, but I doubt they would.

 

Not knocking the product at all, have many friends that use them and they are great, love the mini version. I’m not paying the price they want however, just suggesting a way more handy people can have basically the same thing. I’m making one this summer that should be similar if not better quality for under $50. I’m poor so I have to improvise lol.

Haha ya I actually agree with you there man. It's pretty sweet. The black bags are only made for Overland Bound and the blue bags are made for TemboTusk. Both by Blue Ridge Overland Gear. So I'm pretty sure the only product direct from TemboTusk is blue.

If you can get free shipping then go for it. That'll save you about the same or probably more than what I could give you. I can't give you group buy pricing but I could knock a bit off the price. Doesn't seem like I can get free shipping on Amazon being a prime member.
