When I remove the oil filter, the excess oil drains down onto my skid plate and gunks everything up down there. Not really an issue, but is there something missing? Seems like a small drain hose could be added so the excess oil has a place to go,besides onto my skid plate. Anybody every notice this?

An empty oil bottle fits nicely right under the drain nipple

Just put a hose on the nipple and run it out the bottom of the truck when you change the filter.

I have the fumoto drain valve, so the drain plug isnt my issue. I will probably just go with what

use a water bottle and tie a 10 foot long bright pink extra wide ribbon to it.
Let it drape over the drivers side fender so you wont forget to take it out before starting the engine

PS, red oil is from a transmission

Seems a lot of people that don't know there left from right, mom from dad, cat from dog, cant tell the difference between an engine or transmission pan either

Tried the drain hose a few times but it's always curled and pain in the hole to fish down there. Then it drips after you're done.

A Fumoto and any old plastic cup/bottle/jug temporarily wedged under the filter is as quick and simple as it gets. Stash it with the funnel.

Changed all drain plugs to Dimple Magnetic plugs UNI filter on air pump
I ran a clear plastic hose from the catch lip under the oil filter(v6) tie wrapped to the radiator brackets hoses and it exits out the bottom through the front skid plate. There was a square hole through it install once use forever.

A quart bottle of mobil 1 fits nicely; wedged in place.
I also use another bottle with the bottom cut off. The bottle will screw into the oil fill. Makes a quick job of pouring in the 5 qt jug...

I just cut the top off a plastic water bottle, fashion a S hook out of bailing wire, hook bottle, hook lip of aluminum edge. Position under drip spout.

Just pull the skid plate off before your oil change then reinstall once finished

I just wedge an empty 16oz water bottle under it. Hell anything absorbent would work and be better than letting the oil leak all over your truck lol.

Just get out your drill bits and keep drilling a hole in the top of a small coke bottle until it "snaps" on the drain. It will hold and fill with about 1/2 cup oil.

This is the way to go. I used a piece of 3/8 fuel hose and clamped it to the nipple and ran in down through the skid plate and zip tied it in place next to the radiator. Done no more having to cut a quart or a bottle.

Welcome to TW where we pontificate over the most trivial shit. Love it. I wedge a water bottle under the nipple. Or my beer can if its empty.

Stock there is a cap on that nipple. Procedure is to remove cap place cup under nipple, spin off oil filter, clean up catch basin, replace oil filter, replace cap remove cup of oil.

If you run a tube its gonna sit and drip for a few days all of the stuff that had to travel down the tube.
