OCD here also. I shut off ac and change from recirc to fresh for a few minutes before parking. Also, at least turn down the fan to medium or low, or off completely. Keeps the vents fresh and dry.

I, also, have always shut the A/C off about 1 - 2 minutes prior to shutting off my engine, in every vehicle I have owned that had A/C.

    AC - ALWAYS ON.

I run it until I'm ready to get out of the truck. Too hot for that shit.

Interesting... and I thought I was the only one that turns A/C off a few minutes prior to shutting down. I do it only because I haven’t done the A/C drain mod yet and want all the water blown off by time I park.

First, I am in south Florida where even in the winter it is hot, humid, and one is likely going to break a sweat walking out the front door of your house. If I am in my truck, wife's car or any other vehicle you can be the A/C is running.

If I turn of the recirc, it will introduce MORE humidity and moisture into the truck as well as the system. My A/C also has a drain that does not close when the truck is off so even if more condensation forms it has a way out to the ground. I also have a Limited with dual zone A/C, I don't know about other models and can not speak about them directly, but my fan does not blow at full force when I start the truck. It slowly ramps up to full blast and reduces speed when the set temp is achieved. My 1st gen also had a few seconds pause after engine start before the fan "kicked in" as I recall.

Does it help anything if all accessories are turned off prior to killing the engine?:notsure:

I really can not see this as a huge issue. Been driving for over 30 years and have yet to have an electrical system fail, other than in a POS GMC Sonoma. Don't get me wrong battery and/or alternator failure has happened, typically at or beyond expected life cycle in my experience. I have never been advised by any mechanic, manual, or dealer that everything should be shut down prior to the engine. After so many years of design and advancement that most shut down and start up issues are already handles by turning the key or pushing the button. Almost all vehicles have so many automated things built in now it would take a S-load of switches and 10 minutes to do a pre-flight and post-flight checklist to ensure 100% load removal.
With that said, if you are adding LED bars, chase lights, rock lights, bed lights, strobes, winches (and maybe wenches :rimshot:), cameras, and so forth... it might be a good idea to make sure your mods are off prior to start and stop of the engine.

If you’re truly OCD, wouldn’t you write it CDO.

Believe it or not, this is actually covered in the owner's manual, and they recommend turning the A/C off before stopping.

yup. if someone didn't turn it off before turning off the car, we always turned it off before we started the car. Then, we wouldn't turn the AC on until we got the car "warmed up". that stayed with me until about 2012, when we bought a car with auto temp control. for some reason, around that point we just left the temp control to "auto" all the time. ever since that, we just got in the habit of leaving the AC on, on the truck as well; even though it doesn't have climate control.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Stays on for months then stays off for months (I do avoid the fan on full thing) Truck seems to run a little better with the a/c on (a touch more fuel and timing, perhaps)

I am OCD also I turn everything off, then shut the motor down. My truck is almost always on recirculate air. How old does the truck have to be to start smelling.
