Some good points. I also don't like a seat belt hindering me while I'm on a back road in my deer camp.

I'm curious why anyone needs an annoying chime to get them to wear their seatbelt. I do two things EVERY time I use my truck - start the engine, and put on my seatbelt. I require my passengers to wear theirs as well. Don't need a dinger to tell me to do it.

Another way to do it is to drive fully ware of your surroundings; sensibly, and above all defensively--assume each and everyone else on the road is an asshole, you will not be that far wrong--it's worked for me for over 50 crash-less years; 45 for my wife.

BTW, I use belt extenders to keep the nagging shut off...

I'm glad you found this. I did this years ago on my 2010 and I consider it one of my best mods. Putting the seatbelt on is a habit and when I do decide to leave it off like, backing up to mount a trailer, it's a conscious decision. I keep the instructions in my truck incase I disconect the battery without keeping the truck electrified.

Mine is a second GEN, but my method still applies. I simply found where the chime was coming from and popped the little speaker off the circuit board. Very easy. It is behind the instrument cluster on the second GEN. As a bonus, it also got rid of the door chime. If you have a manual transmission though, you will unfortunately lose the chime that tells you are in reverse.
Edit. I do use my seatbelt while driving on public roads at any speed.

I had my local dealer turn mine off. They hooked it up to the TechStream...took 5 min.

Haha. That's my dad. He refuses to wear them unless the chime doesn't stop quickly. I love this seat belt chime when he's in my car.

The "fatboy" part of my screen name is from my bike.
I only wear the helmet in states that require it.
But this is not the place to debate personal beliefs on that topic. I'm sure neither of us would sway the other anyway.
We are here only to discuss how to turn off the chime. How people use that knowledge, and why, is up to them.

You should wear the special helmet the doctor gave you at all times.

Great logic here. I'm old so it can't happen to me. Try not to dent my truck when you fly through the window.

If you like; however the primary difference I observe is that my generation considers driving a skill and does not consider crashes inevitable or unavoidable--where and when you drive matters too. I avoid urban areas like the plague, and rush-hours and week-end nights. As a lifelong biker with as many miles on two-wheels as four, I view seatbelts/airbags/etc. as superfluous fluff too...

Never understood how people could be so stupid when it comes to seat belts and helmets.
