I have a 2009 double cab, long bed and was wondering if the shell from a regular cab or access cab Tacoma will fit on my truck without any paint rubbing. Thanks for the help.

Regular cab shells have a more straight up and down front, that butts against the cab. Access cab and double cab are same. (so long as it is a long bed shell)

So yes, it will fit, but you wont have a perfect gap between cab and shell, it will be a bit larger at top, than at bottom if you follow me. Some people this is fine, some people have a big problem with it.

Yeah I actually figured that out right after I posted. I should've done a bit more research first. Anyone got a pic of a regular cab shell on their access cab or double cab?

Google search brought me to this thread. That gap looks pretty minimal from there. I may pull the trigger on a regular cab shell for a good price and windoors.

Does anyone know if this would work the other way around without paint rubbing? I have a CL lead on an ARE cap originally for the access or double with the long bed but I have a regular cab. The serial number is N1266331 2006 Toyota Tacoma EC/DC SB S W

Heads up. Just drove 3 hours to pick up a shell. This is not universally true. Try and buy a topper for your regular cab that was originally designed for the access or double and you might be very disappointed.

Access cab shell on regular cab first try
I tried 4-5 access/double cab shells on my regular cab, they would rub or clunk the cab of the truck on the test fit and drive. I bought a $40 old s-10 shell with the boot cab seal and this worked great for me for the year I needed it. I probably have a picture somewhere…
