To cut or not to cut?

Some states require the exhaust to exit out from under the vehicle or it might fail inspection so depending on your state, you might want an extension pipe just for going through inspection. I never did understand all the aftermarket exhaust systems putting a tip on that is an inch larger than the rest of the pipe. It won't make any more power and usually sounds worse.

 

Interesting. Didn't realize that was a thing.
The tip was oem, the angle of the exit pipe on the mbrp exhaust was less than desireable. However the sound is perfect imo.

 

Not just an aftermarket thing...these trucks come stock with an exhaust tip that is larger than the pipe.
