So ive looked around the site and I've seen different answers so I'm not too sure. I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V6 SR5. I'm not sure if I have an open diff or a limited slip one. Would I need an additive? And what do you recommend I use? Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks.

All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, j hooked waste gate
The term better is a bit subjective. It is more expensive, generally longer service intervals and improved economy numbers. A few oil manufactures like royal purple and I believe redline have friction modifier/ limited slip compatible. Some have stated that they have gotten a little chatter using these products. If you drive in conditions that would warrant shortened drain intervals (frequently driving through water ect) I wouldn’t waste my money on synthetic. Anything out there that meets the specifications should be totally fine. As most use the same base oil and they just have there own trade mark additive packages.

I run Valvoline synthetic in the rear, and X case. front diff I run Lucas because of the ECGS bushing. I will probably switch them all to Lucas at 60K.

ECGS recommends Lucas 85-140 after the bushing install.

I'm not a fan of Royal Potato either. Lucas, Amsoil & Mobil are my top 3. I only used Valvoline in mine right after I bought the truck (35K miles) because that was all that was available (without ordering it) at the time of me changing the diffs & x case. I plan on doing 60K mile service on them.

I vote for the unicorn tears as well. Been using it for years in everything including outdoor power equipment.
