Sup fellas, just got a camper top and wanted to mount a couple things to the interior. im thinking a flashlight, fire extinguisher, pvc pipe (fishing rod holder) and maybe a couple other things. my problem is idk how to achieve this. screws would obviously be the most sturdy, but im unsure of where i can screw into the camper shell or if i cant even screw into it at all. anybody come up with cool ideas of how to mount things? or anybody have any advice on how to do so? thanks in advance!

Some people have retrofitted a net to the top of the cap if that is what you want to do. There are number of other options that you can use to mount those things to the side of your bed on the interior. @CaliRaisedLed makes a side mounted Molle panel for the bedside interior. Then all you have to do is pick up some MOLLE pouches for the flashlight or some straps for the PVC pipe or fire extinguisher. Here is the TW link

yea i am already going to get the net for the ceiling. i was planning on getting a flashlight mount to install in the back corner of the shell, which would require me to drill into the shell itself (pretty sure not possible since the shell isnt all that thick). and i building a sleeping platform that would take away from the molle system so idk how im gonna make this work.

What type of shell it? Anything is possible. You might be able to get a couple of bolts through after you drill a hole through the shell and put some rubber grommets on the top side of the bolt coming out of the roof the shell to maintain water integrity.

I agree....that is why you might want to try the interior side of the bed option.

OK. Are you any good with working with fiberglass? If it were me, here's what I would do.

Remove the shell from the truck and flip it over. Use some Liquid Nails or something similar and glue down some 1-inch thick boards to the inside of the roof.

Once the glue has set up, get some fiberglass cloth and resin, and glass over the boards and the surrounding roof area. Paint to suit.

Now you can (carefully) drill into the 1-inch boards and use them as attachment points.

yea i might end up doing that. i was just trying to have it on the shell so it would be out the way of my sleeping platform.

I put a roof rack on my camper shell and use some of the bolts going through as anchor points for bungees to hold rods up there. Easiest thing for extinguisher and whatnot is some quick fists in the railing. I've also seen people make rod holders out of wood that go between the ceiling and railing where the windows are. I would guess some sort of threaded pressure system is used to keep it in place.

Do you have rails on to of the shell, like to mount a roof rack? If so you could put in longer bolts and use them as attachment points.
