Nevermind, saw it was 2019 not 2018. Check dates for FJ summit 2019. Passes will be super crowded during that event if it's the same dates next year as this year.

@JBTacoma - if you have any route information or how to get to trails you think we must do, I'm starting to collate that stuff for our trip and I'd love if you'd PM me and share.

RE: FJ Summit, we'll just have to play that one by ear. Honestly, it's not an FJ exclusive event and we might end up just riding with them for a bit

Get this book, GPS will get you to the trails but this book will guide you through the trails turn by turn with pictures.

You want have a phone signal on most of the trails so download the area from Google Maps when you have a signal.

    Top of the World
    Poison Spider Mesa
    Elephant Hill
    Hell''s Revenge is a must
There is so many trails to choose from.

I'll be modifying the 'what to bring' post here shortly with what I'll call a 'requirements' list. In order to optimize everyone's enjoyment, I'm going to say that if you want to come, you should meet some basic specs. The list is still under construction but will, at a minimum, be '33s', and will more than likely include a more advanced radio setup than a CB.

You're getting awful picky on what you're wanting to come. Just because you have 33's doesn't mean you can drive

Hmmm... I have no CB but I plan to have 33’s by then. The bigger question would be how I can get off work for that many days in a row?

I think most people would classify 32.4 as a 33. My 34.5s are considered 35s, anyway.

Comms decision is unclear but cb sounds like shit and every cb channel will be flooded out there.

But let's get back to point 1- were you even planning on going on this trip?

If we do end up going with something other than CB there will be spare handhelds floating around for sure. I mostly just don't want people to get high centered on shit out there and have to spend time recovering trucks all day in the 100* desert

We did CBs. Used ch 40. No interference. No one walking on us.

2 trucks were full size. 1 with 32s one with 31s. No issues. Tires werent as big of a deal as you might think.

Gas useage/carrying capacity more important, but not a serious problem.

Take as much water as you can.

Learn to travel light where you can.

This is a semi-commercialized "park" of sorts, not the Sahara Desert. I've seen people with more kit for a day at Dirty Turtle than some of the regulars at Moab pack with em.

I have been a couple times and both times there were trucks with less than 33s and made it just fine everywhere and no one high centered.
There are places you will use winches because of how steep a rock is and it will not matter if you are on 31s or 35s.
We also used CBs and there was no problem with finding multiple channels that no one was using, a CB is fine.
