Has anyone with a 3rd Gen disconnected their ABS? I have a 17' OR 4X4 and was just wondering if the ABS is disconnected for OR purposes what additional functions I might lose if any.

ABS is never disabled. Why? If you pull the fuse you lose VSC, Crawl, etc. You will also have a code condition so if you do it and F up, it's yours.

Going with a LT kit and in order to obtain maximum travel up front the axle will be upgraded and it will disconnect the ABS. I don't mind losing VSC or CRAWL. Just want to make sure i retain 4WD and the locker. The manufacturer has assured me that both will be operational but just wanted to see if anyone here had any feedback.

You should be fine. Loads of people with second gens have disabled their ABS when offroad by either pulling the fuse or wiring in a switch. Once you reconnect it, you'll probably have to turn the truck off and back on for it to take effect and start working again.

In my experiments, if you kill ABS by all the methods I tried, 4wd mode changes will be prevented. (If in 4hi, you are stuck in 4hi)

To clear the lockout, have to correct the issue and power cycle the ignition. Truck will then function normal without a check engine light, but code and freeze-frame data will be stored in ECU.

I am not sure it will work like you want, but I can't say it won't work... Sorry not much help

OP I just thought of something. Why would LT disable ABS? You could very easily just extend the wiring a bit.

I thought about this. Has anyone ever done this before? I looked it up online and found very limited information.

I broke the abs sensor wire on my friends truck once on accident. Removed the wiring, cut off both connectors and soldered it onto my own wires. Works like a charm. I’d imagine you can do the same
