I got everything except the ECU. Im kind of thinking I can get the engine wiring harness and ECU out of a 2004 and just put it in mine and it should work without unpinning and cutting. Input from anyone would be awesome

It takes 20 minutes to unpin the connections. Buy the 04 (manual ecu), no harness needed, and just unpin the hand full of wires.

I just bought the ECU. Do I not need any of the transmission wires?

FInished putting the trans in and I was hoping that I could start the truck without doing the wiring for a little but that’s a big fat no. I’m guessing I have to wire up the diagram above for it to turn on or do I have to also unpin the wiring from the ecu for it to run. Emissions aren’t due til November

Just the diagram i sent. Unpinning with a new ecu will help solve the Check engine light.

Thanks! I don't post here much.

Duly noted, I started posting here more than TTORA, but I don't post much...

Anyhow, your build has been an inspiration and the content you have created has been an invaluable reference!!

I hope the LC makes a good tow vehicle lol!

@SafetyDang quick question on ecm unpin. Looking the diagrams I downloaded from mosk on yota tech . I found a manual ecm for my year, on E5 plug it shows slot 5 wire as B/W FOR IGSW, my wire is black with red stripe. It also shows the same for slot E5 slot 15 B/W for IGSW. The slot 15 white is correct color per diagram. Did you pull any wires in this E5 plug? It's the only one on that plug that need to be unpinned on an 02. Thanks in advance

I cut E5 pin/slot 5. Didn't even look at the color now that you mention it. Truck has been running fine since

How was the fit on those skids? You work nights or just a night owl. At some point I want to remove the complete harness and remove all under unnecessary wires and rewrap the harness in the bmw type cloth tape. The wire loom is disintegrating evey time I touch it

Skids fit great. Bud built was the original skid plate maker for the Tacoma.

I'm kind of a night owl I guess.

If it isn't broken don't fix it .

hey Safety, I’m in the process of dealing with the ole pink milkshake, and am wanting to do the manual swap. I’ve found a donor truck but has the push button 4wd Tcase, my truck has the manual J shifter.
I’m hoping to keep my manual Tcase but not sure if that would work with the ECU from the donor that has the push button. Also would it matter putting the push button in my truck, not sure if there is anything in the front diff that is different to the push button.
Not sure if you would know but thought I’d ask. Or might know someone on here that would know. Thanks man.
