So one week after buying my truck, I get a check engine light with major evap leak codes (typically gas cap junk). I checked that, reset the battery and the light went off for a day. I'm definitely operating the gas cap correctly. LOL

I go into the dealer and they "reset" everything and "hooked it up to the engineers in Atlanta" and confirmed everything was good. Then they said my TMO GPS tracker was the issue... I called BS because all it does is read data and they said it's a common problem with the new Camrys. They took off the sensor and I drove off with no check engine light.

Next day, light is back on and that sensor was never plugged in. Going back in on Saturday to waste another 3 hours of my life.

Note: I was getting this light before my OV Tune flash so I doubt that was the issue.

So, what's the deal here? Bad gas cap? Bad sensor? Gremlins?

I believe that it was said that if the evap canister gets properly flooded then it is pretty much impossible to dry out. Given that, it was cautioned somewhere around here to not top off the tank with fuel up the filler throat. After finding on my Taco that no fuel really goes in after the first click off of the pump, I don't even try.

Our other cars could take a good bit of fuel after the first click off of the pump.

Wait.. after the filler clicks off, I can't add any more fuel?? I've been doing this for almost 3 years now, at 1/2 gal extra every tank. I always fill up past full.

    Doing quick math
Owned truck for 147 weeks @ 1 fill up per week =
    147 * .5 gal = 73.5 gal extra @ $3/gal = $220.50

I pretty much am sure gas is going in when "topping off" the tank.

    Are you sure your sure?

Two different gas stations in the last 2 fill ups so it's probably not the gas.
I usually top off too, but the last time I did not. So not sure that's it either.

I let mine fill on full flow using the lever on the nozzle. Once it clicks off, if I try to add more fuel, it immediately clicks back off even if I wait a few seconds. Another try is the same. For me, I doubt that it adds another 0.1gal. If I was getting another half gal, I would let it go to a second click. But with the evap discussion, I'm content filling to the first click.

I also burn it down to the point where I'm adding about 20gal each fill up. I doubt that matters in this discussion though?
