Hey, I'm looking for a 2nd gen Tocoma that's in the Tucson/Marana area.
I just need to take some measurements of your front suspension. Won't take more than 10 minutes. Tires don't even need to come off.
All i really care about suspension wise is that you are using the original OEM front bump stops.

Once I'm done measuring my plan is to make bump stops built specifically for the 2nd gen Tacoma's.

I'm currently making custom bump stops for 3rd gen 4runners and have received a ton of requests for a custom 2nd gen Tacoma Bump stops. Hence why I need a 2nd gen Tacoma to work with.

    Who's out there???

I'll buy beer, food or you tell me...

Want to borrow my third Gen bump stops for future reference? Just pay shipping, I don't go towards Tucson too often.

Do you 3rd Gen guys have the same aftermarket bump stops offered as the 2nd gen? pretty much Wheeler's or Timbren's? If so, I can do better.

I have no clue what the difference is between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen Tacoma's bump stops (I drive a bad ass 3rd gen 4runner). Once I get caught up with the 2nd gen Tacoma bump stops I will look for a local 3rd gen Tacoma guy for fitment and to see what I can make up for you guys.

I did a ton of testing with dual durometer (firmness/softness) during the R&D of my 4runner bumps. Now that I figured out the right combination of the two durometer rubber its just a matter of designing the right shape to fit the application. easy peazy.

If I remember correctly the 2nd and 3rd use the same Wheeler's Bumpstops

I’m going to be in the market for bump stops too, looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I had pretty much figured on getting the wheelers because of their softness.

@Istan Looks like you will be able to get your hands on some sooner than later!! Thanks for looking that up for me.

If I had to guess its looking like it will be towards the end of June for the 2nd/3rd gen bumps to be ready to go. Doing testing now.

Do you have any data that shows the difference between yours and wheelers or timbrens? Testing on the firmness or anything.

I’m thinking he probably does, given the fact that he did dual durometer. Dual rate is cool because it allows you to have a plush initial impulse while also not giving up the resistance to bottoming out.

I just wanted to write something for updates. I would want to see the numbers though on the wheelers, timbrens, and this guys to visually compare the three with data. If not I subscribed and will wait for a few sets to sell to see what people think.

Met up with Curtis yesterday super cool dude knows his stuff about bump stops. His plan is to do a dual durometer front bump stops for the Tacomas . He also talked about doing some rear bump stops can't wait cuz I need to replace mine .He said he had the Prototype on the printer last night if possible they'll be mounted on Friday and maybe take him for a little test ride if not they're going to have to wait cuz I'm going to New Jersey for 2 weeks. Either way when I do a test run and fitment will be some pictures of good right up and all the info that I can possibly get on them up on the thread.

I've been meaning to post up and I see @Plastics Guy is in the BS thread sooooo yeah...

Tell us more about these rear bumps too! Are they gonna be bonded to a metal plate or a screw-on kinda affair that secures with a bolt/washer to a strike plate?

It all started with some custom rear bump stops I made for my 3rd gen 4runner a few months back. I posted a thread on T4R and Everyone really liked the idea. People just started asking if I could make them a set. I also started getting more and more requests for 4th and 5th gen 4runner bump stops. So I made what they needed. Im a plastics/rubber guy, its like asking your steel fabricator for rock sliders, its what we do...

I wondered over to TW to share the front bump stops with the 1st gen Tacoma guys to see if anyone cared. Its been a growing topic ever since. Once a few guys picked up on my thread I started getting requests for 2nd and 3rd gen Taco front bump stops. So I am now in the beta test stages for the 2nd and 3rd gen Taco front bump stops.

For the Tacoma rear bump stops (all gens) - the bump stop will be a screw-on affair to a steel mounting plate and fastened to the rear leafs using the u-bolts. Nothing is glued.

My goal is to make application specific bump stops, opposed to the one size fits all approach. All my bump stops are a dual durometer rubber that allows for a very soft initial contact on the bump stop. Everything is chemical resistant and UV stable.

Shameless Plug - I also make a bushing for the front diff mount bracket. Toyota does not offer this bushing as a servicable part and there are not any aftermarket options to service this bracket. The only option is to replace the entire bracket through Toyota at over $100.00 Each. My replacement bushing are at a low, low price of $45 with free shipping!

    How say You???

So Im not nearly as efficient at setting up FS threads as I am with making bump stopos. I need to get on that!! :) I have just been taking PM's and using paypal for payment. here is the link to my thread I started that has all kinds of info on the 3rd gen 4runner front and rear bump stops. (the last couple pages have enough info, its a long thread) This is the link to my front Tacoma bump stops. It started as only 1st gen Tacos but grew into 2nd gen and 3rd gen Tacos as well. Also working on rear bumps for all Tacoma's...
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-front-bump-stops.545984/page-4#post-18131616

3rd gen bump stops: (includes all mounting hardware)
    - Front bump stop set (V2) with dual durometer 5.25" rear bump stops - $175.00 with free shipping
    - Front bump stop set (V2) $60 plus shipping.
    - Dual durometer 5.25" rear bump stop set $120 plus shipping.

Working with @2ndGenJonny and Avid offroad to make a U-bolt flip kit (U-Bolts, top plate, rubber bump stop, required hardware). for the guys that already have a flip kit I will be selling just the steel mounting plate that will be bolted on using your u-bolts to save you a little money. The rear bump stops will be a dual durometer just like my 3rd gen 4runner rear bump stops.

The TWAZ BS thread is what made this all happen for the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma bump stops. Awesome group and very lively. Anything I've needed or asked for I have had multiple people shoot me a PM offering help, parts, donor trucks and on and on!

I just finished up a V2 front bump stop that has a cast in place metal washer and a 3/16" steel plate on the bottom of the mounting base. I had a few of my V1 fail after extended periods of 55+ mph across heavily rutted roads with large whoops :mudding:. They held up great for awhile until the shocks heated up (non-resi's) then the mounting base cracked.... So I made V2, its a cleaner looking bump stop and much more strong with the steel plate.

here is the link to the front 1st gen Taco bumps:
