Yeah, I have a very steep concrete driveway. If I stop while going up it and then very lightly press the gas, it will activate the TC even though the wheels aren't slipping. My last two 4runners did the exact same thing, Definitely normal for Toyotas TC system. To keep it from happening, you can keep pressure on your brake pedal for an extra second while depressing the throttle.

Thanks, it's the same situation! That's what I'm doing it now with brake and gas method. But just wonder if there is a way to do something with the ECU or TC.

Here's the 'jumper wire' method...and actually, this is supposed to be done any time you have alignment done; lifted or not.

I know this is an old post but I have been trying to figure out this sound/ noise for about a year. I do have a lift, but mine started doing it long before I lifted my Taco. at around 6K miles, I was turning right into a driveway entrance and it made this hellacious noise that sounded like a sawzall on hard plastic (sort of). I was like "what the fuck!!" Didn't do it again for a long while but at least once a month it does it sort of randomly. FYI, I did have the OR shop recalibrate the YAW sensor after my alignment, but didn't seem to make much difference. Glad I stumbled across this thread! It's been driving me mad not knowing what the hell was going on....:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

I’m glad I found this page also. Happen to me this morning going into the gas station on an angle with the passenger side in first and heard a “rubbing/crunch”type sound around underneath my taco.

I was like “wtf was that?!” Puts my mind at ease that it’s the ABS.. I hope lol.

I get this sound all the time and even have the TC disabled. I believe this noise is the rack and pinion grinding or the steering box as well as the abs system. I recently blew the rack in my truck and have no power steering in the truck.

Damn, that’s some serious stuff. It’s like how the member above described it “running a sawzall on hard plastic”

The TC/ VSC come back on line at about 35 mph even if it's disabled.

I wasn't worried to much about it until I lost power steering. Now I am totally concerned with it destroying another rack.
