    Hello 3rd Gens,

I'm planning a trip for late summer/early fall this year (once I get rock sliders and winch bumper installed) and I'd like to do some preventative maintenance that may be required.

So far I've got 43k miles on my 2016 and I can't help but wonder if I'm forgetting to grease something. I realize some of you will just say "look at your manual" and I plan to, but I'm looking for some less conventional advice that may not be in there.

Full disclosure, this is my first truck and I come from an immediate family with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality with cars that occasionally has led to snapped belts and squeaky suspensions. I'd prefer not to carry on the family tradition and get stranded in the middle of nowhere.

    Fire away, my dudes.

It's a Taco. You should be good as it sets.

Do a good inspection of your CV boots.

Have you swapped out the diff and t case fluids yet? You could save those for when you get back.

Might not be a bad time to bleed the brakes. Every two years on a modern system is a good thing. Also, it would be a good time to look at pad thicknesses.

How's the wiper blades? Those are easy enough to grab while on the road, but a bit miserable if you are in a squall and one takes a dump.

Check your serpentine belt. If ok, buy a spare. If your belt goes in the middle of Butt **** Nowhere, you are screwed. especially if in the bush, etc.

You will now need a flat bed towjob..... They are hard to find in the boonies and very costly.

Print off a picture of the way the belt goes on and understand how to change it. Take tools.

Not all towns have a Toyota dealer. If there is one close, it's closed till Monday..

At least if you carry a spare, you have a chance.....

    Good Luck
